Only 2 Percent Of Women Consider Themselves Beautiful

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) -- This is some pretty weird news: Only two percent of the world's women consider themselves beautiful.

That's the ugly truth of a new survey by Dove soap which asked ladies around the globe what they thought of their looks.

Only two percent of women describe themselves as beautiful, including three percent of American ladies and six percent of Brazilian babes.

By comparison, not one Japanese woman surveyed considers herself "beautiful" while 43 percent use the term "natural," and 26 percent say they have "average" looks.

Almost every woman I see who is in the top 70% seems to walk around like she owns the world. I don't know why that is.

On the other hand, the two most beautiful girls I know think that nobody could possibly love them.

It is? To me, it's the equivalent of saying, "BREAKING NEWS: Water is wet! Story at 11!"

Yes, absolutely. Personally, I have a big ego and despite my being a bit heavyset, I am killer, baby. Fall down and worship the BL. But I sure didn't start out that way, and it took real willpower to overcome the "Oh, I'm so ugly!" mentality. People are so willing to believe horrible things about themselves sometimes...

26. Men generally think they're good looking and/or smart.

Men rate themselves well in those areas, higher than women. There was a study done to show this, which confirmed what I've informally observed for years. Even if a man doesn't think he's a hottie, he thinks he's smart, funny, or both.

Whereas women think worse of themselves, the opposite is true of men--gee, I wonder why?

20. On second reading, I want to see the poll question...

I want to know if they gave women a list of 10 or so different adjectives to choose from, "beautiful" among them -- or if they asked 10 different "yes or no" questions ("Would you describe yourself as beautiful?" "Would you describe yourself as attractive?")

I have horrible self-esteem and many body issues. I think I look like 40 miles of bad road so I overcompensate by being a snarky smart ass and trying to make people laugh.

Self-esteem issues are also why I dress so weird. I figure if I'm not beautiful I might as well shoot for "interesting" instead. :P

28. You most likely ARE beautiful

I hate stuff like this. Beautiful compared to what? 6 foot model with no ass? Movie stars, with their personal trainers and their makeup artists and the every ready air brush to touch up photos. I have an atypical women's body. I'm muscular and lean, I keep my hair long and rarely wear makeup. I'm aging, I watch my face change in the mirror, year by year. I wear what I want, have a funky style. Most of the time, I'm content, and feel beautiful, by my OWN goddamn standards. I have three daughters. The oldest, the one in the army, is long and lean, turns heads wherever she goes(bad attitude tho'). The two younger ones are busty and rounder, with beautiful shining faces. I've always explained to them about body image, it's your own opinion that counts the most. I know, easier said than done! But worth the soul-searching.
