Ha, My Dog is a Riot
I just got off the phone with my mother. It turns out that a stick of butter fell onto the floor, and Max ate half of it before my mother noticed it'd fallen onto the floor. Then later when she was on the couch, she saw Max pull the zipper all the way down on her purse, and he was pawing through her stuff.

He did the same thing last year when my older brother left a chocolate bar in his satchel, and Max lifted the flap of the satchel, and ate the chocolate bar. He's alright now, but I'm amazed at how easily he gets into stuff.

Anyways, here's my incorrigible pooch, Max.

2. I tell ya, he's got a righteous sneer down here

Ha, you wouldn't know to look at him in this photo, that he's the sweetest dog ever and wouldn't hurt a fly. He just looks pissed off whenever I take photos of him because he hates the camera flash.

6. Careful of butter or margarine
That much fat all at once in a dog your cutie's size could cause liver damageand huge problems later. . I keep activated charcoal on hand as well as my favorite trick of making my westie vomit out bad stuff - hydrogen peroxide in a baby's nasal aspirator (looks like a teeny turkey baster.) About a tablespoon down them makes them throw up within a very short time.

Saved my dog's life when he got into arsenic peanuts (don't ask - too long a story).

Learned the trick from a vet and if it hasn't been too long since the butter, I would recommend it.

My westie ate a small tub of benecol and had to get the treatment. They said to rush him in - he was still a pup.

7. Good points, elfin.
My doggie has gotten his paws on sticks of butter more than once when I'm baking, but has suffered no ill effects. They can be amazingly sneaky and acrobatic when they see or smell something they want. He's a 100 pound Doberman and that makes a big difference. We're part of a group of trail walkers and I always have a couple of bottles of peroxide in the trunk to pour down some errant dog's gullet if they've ingested something really 'fishy.' It doesn't hurt them and it's instant puke. Or you can rush to the vet and be charged $100 for the same treatment. LOL. (note: peroxide works if you basically catch the dog in the act - not much later...then they need to have their tummy pumped)
