Cardinals are whoring for *....
Today a co-worker (a * supporter) came up to me and said she had heard on the radio that * may attend tomorrow's Cardinals game against the Dodgers. She was all excited because the "president" may be there. She also said that they are trying to see if he can throw out the first pitch of the game (he threw the first pitch on opening day..the Cardinals lost then so I would think that given how superstitious many baseball fans and players are that they would not want * to throw any pitches).

I told her that * is close friends with a couple of the owners and that one of his cousins lives in Ladue (a very wealthy suburb of St Louis).

Yet another reason I find it's easier to be a Cubs fan even though I live in St Louis.

Are blue collar dems.

And both St. Louis and St. Louis County vote democrat by a comfortable margin.

But you should know that since you live there.

And at the very least, the Cardinals were never owned by Rupert Murdoch.

The last time St. Louis elected a Republican mayor was 1945.

L.A.'s last Republican mayor left office in 2001 after two terms.

6. My aunt was at opening day.
She said there were plenty of boos. Give us St. Louisans some credit!

It's only because the Cards' owner is a bigass Bush supporter and friend.

10. My co-worker who is attending the game tonight
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 09:53 AM by ikojo
said that all * needs to do is say "Go Cards!" and he has 52,000 votes.

I really hope people aren't that shallow.

I recall attending a game in September 1992 and they flashed a montage of pictures on the jumbo screen..when Bush #41's face came on the screen, it was met with a loud round of booooooooo. The friend I was with turned to me and said "that if SPORTS fans are booing Bush then the we have won the election."

11. Really?
said that all * needs to do is say "Go Cards!" and he has 52,000 votes.

That's strange considering that Cardinal fans have been electing Dick Gephardt to the US House for the past 30 years.

12. Dick Gephardt is not nearly as popular in
this area as you seem to think. True he routinely won re-election but with each race it became more and more contentious. The Third District was also re-districted in 2000 to include parts of U City and the part it includes is wealthier and more conservative (thanks to its heavily Catholic population) than other parts of U City.

Cards fans have also elected Kit Bond to the Senate several times and elected Jim (no)Talent over Jean Carnahan in 2000.

14. Didn't Cubs fans give us the wonderful Jim Ryan?
And I'm also assuming that Hastert's constituents are Cubs fans, being from Northern Illinois and all...

Anyway, I know you want to paint the Cardinals as evil, but giving up your sour grapes over the Cubs massive choke this year can only help.

18. CUBS fans will give Illinois
Barack Obama.....

Sure beats Kit Bond by several miles

CUBS fans, realizing the error of their ways in helping to put in Jim Ryan (although I would guess that he got in with a lot of SOUTHERN and CENTRAL IL votes as well) gave Illinois Rod Blagojevich.

CUBS in 2005!

15. No need to tar St. Louis or Cardinals fans
Just because you're upset that Dirty Baker and Steroid Sammy blew it.

St. Louis is solidly and reliably Dem, and to try an portray it something else is just plain dishonest.

I was born there, lived half my life there, and most of my extended family still lives there. All of them are Cardinals fans and true blue Democrats.

And as for Gephardt being less popular, that's just plain BS.

He won the last election 59% to 39%.

13. Meh...I can't even enjoy my favorite baseball team without thinking of *.
He needs to go away, soon.

I'm still a Cardinals fan. If his presence causes the Cards to lose (like on opening day), I'm going to be REALLY pissed.

16. Enough about the Cards. Are you all going to America's Center?
I posted on the Missouri board but I know it doesn't get much traffic.
I hope to see you all there. I'll be the one with long blonde hair accompanying a grumpy looking guy with a goatee. lol
I can't wait!

17. People are also needed along Skinker
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 08:22 AM by ikojo
to welcome Kerry...

Help is needed to show strong support for Kerry tomorrow before the debate. The more people holding signs the better....Just read on and see what the pugs have done.

I received this via e mail today.

1.) The Republicans have bused in 5,000 people from outside of St. Louis to do visibility for Bush.
2.) We need to show that the people of St. Louis are excited about John Kerry.
3.) Before the debate we need to boost John Kerry so he can put in another strong performance on Friday night.

Also, people that help out with visibility will receive special yellow tickets and will be close to the stage at the rally itself. Here is the schedule and locations where we need people.

- 6:00 PM at the Westin Hotel Downtown
- Skinker and Clayton 6:00 - 7:00
- Skinker and Southwood 6:00 - 7:00
- Skinker and Arundel Place 6:00- 7:00
- Skinker and Fauquier 6:00- 7:00
- Skinker and Forsyth 6:00- 7:00

Also, there is a press conference with Dick Gephardt at 10:00 AM at Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School that it would be great to get people to attend. Tell everybody you know about these opportunities too!

Finally, if you are available tonight, we are having a small airport rally for John Kerry when he arrives. He will be speaking around 9:00 PM and the gates open at 7:00 PM. I think that this would be a great opportunity so give me a call if you are interested.

Thank you so much for your help so far and let me know if you are interested in any of these events.

All the best,

Ben Correa
