My poor cat Sting has a condition called feline tooth resorption
and had to have 2 teeth pulled today. She's the best pet I've ever had. I think it's hurting me more than it is her because she's pretty drugged up at the moment.

Bad thing is she can get this in other teeth because it's some sort of reaction to her immune system if I heard the vet correctly.

2. Is she leukemic?
Lots of cats with leukemia and feline AIDS wind up toothless. They eat just fine.

3. The vet asked if she'd been checked for leukemia.
I don't think so and was surprised when he didn't check right then. He said she'd do fine without the teeth, I'm personalizing what she's having to go through being deathly afraid of the dentist myself.

5. I've got a 'neck lesion' kitty, too.
She lost seven teeth about six months ago. Still has her fangs, though the vet asked me if I wanted to wager on whether she'd still have them two years from now, and I told her she had an unfair advantage.

Doodle eats what she wants, though we no longer give her things that require any significant chewing -- she used to like pieces of chicken, but she doesn't have any molar teeth anymore, so it's tiny kibble and canned food. Probably better for her, anyway.

She doesn't seem to notice they're gone, by the way. If Sting eats kibble, you might look for one that comes in small pieces, so she doesn't have to chew it. That's really the only thing Doodle has a problem with.

6. Hey!
I've got a Doodle too!!

A tuxedo (the nicest tux I've ever seen, even has a symmetrical handlebar moustache ;) cat, he was first named for Homer Simpson but after Ned Flanders called "Hey Homer! I can see your doodle!" that was it...

Homer 'Doodle' Simpson :D

'Homer' still comes up, after a fashion: when my neighbor is out I like to call into the screened window
"Hey Ho!"

First time I called that she wheeled around.... LOL

8. I've run into a few on the Internet.
Doodle is sort of a tuxedo cat, too -- she's a tortie with the white vest. We call her that because ... well, she's not very bright. She's five years old and still acts like an eight-month-old kitten, but she's sweet and one of the funniest cats I've ever seen (even though I doubt she knows she's funny).

11. Tortie's are my favorite coat color!
All of our cats except the first were rescue, so it was pot luck.
The last two, Doodle and Angus McFangus were feral kittens. (Angus got his last name by being the only animal in my life to bite me LOL Poor guy was just scared... but I have some nice scars now)

And we ended up with THREE tuxedo cats.
Oh, and all six are (were) boys.

I can't tell you the disappointment I initially felt when I trapped Doodle, looked in and saw ANOTHER tuxedo cat! LMAO

We had always said we have too many cats and would adopt the next rescue out... never happened.

I hate to say it, but I stayed indoors most of the summer because I was afraid of finding another feral yearly kitten or two to tame :(

I feel bad also that I was that chicken...

7. Good idea about the smaller kibble.
She's always eaten kibble, in fact she prefers it to soft food. I'm going to go out and buy some right away.

9. Our vet wanted us to feed Doodle soft food for a few days,
after the oral surgery. Doodle made it three hours. She wouldn't eat the canned food, and begged shamelessly for the kibble. It took her a while to learn to eat it without trying to chew it on her nonexistent teeth, but she was fine once she did.

10. I have a tooth that reabsorbed
and I'm still alive and kicking. Told me they aren't sure was causes a tooth to do that - they just kind of die from the inside and are reabsorbed.
