I admire Amy tremendously. And which would you prefer, an embedded/ass-kissing journalist who will always stoop before power or one that remembers that a journalists primary job is to challenge power?
I thought she was a bit rough on Clinton in that interview, but I think that she was incensed that he called her show on election morning and expected her to be so overwhelmed by that favor, that she wouldn't ask probing questions that she had probably wanted to ask him for a long time. He wanted the ear of the left, and hadn't done much to earn it (from a campaigning point of view) up to that point - as usual, they love our votes but that treat us like the crazy old aunt in the attic. Amy just decided if he was going to use her show like that, she was going to get something important to her (asking him tough questions)in return.
My only complaint is that I think sometimes the show is a little bit pro-Palestinian, where I think there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides. But it is a counterbalance to the other 99% of the media that is pro-Israeli.
My husband finds the show informative but depressing. I think thats because he'd rather switch over to see all the Botox blondes on ABC. We have been so inundated with infotainment for so long, some people feel cheated if there isn't some razzle-dazzle to go along with their news.
And I thought HE was very condescending to her when he started lecturing her. Even though I like Clinton a lot, and feel like he's about as progressive as we are likely to get in a President during my lifetime.
