Republicans keep better yards? WTF?
Someone on another message board I lurk on said that she read some study that said that Republicans keep better yards than Democrats do. She asserted that one could spot one's political beliefs by the yard they kept. Democrats had shabby yards (because they didn't want to water presumably), while Republicans have "pretty, lush, manicured yards"

How freaking asinine can you get? A bunch of people called BS, and she said that she couldn't find a link to the study. Anyone ever heard of this?

1. Ever see most republican yards?
I usually see "Bush/Cheney" signs in yards among the junked cars, trash, old appliances, and so on... :eyes:

On Mercer Island, with our Paul Allen and Alan Mullally, we have Mexicans to keep the yards looking nice! If there is anyone to exploit illegal labor, it is the freepers...

5. I'd believe it
Think about it...the modern green manicured lawn is a wasteland. There is no diversity, and massive inputs of fossil fuels (mowing) and fossil fuel products (fertilizers & pesticides) are required to keep 'em going. Outsiders are treated as invaders and slaughtered by herbicide.

It's kind of a metaphor for modern whacko-right-wing Republicans.

17. As someone who did parks maintainance for a few summers...
It takes a shit-load of money and terrible chemicals to get a lawn to stay green, and this is in the Pacific Northwest. I can't imagine what it'd be like elsewhere.

6. Some people say....
If you've seen Outfoxed, you know why they do this. What if I got on here and posted stuff like "Some people say Republicans have a lower IQ than Democrats on average" or "I read somewhere that Ralph Nader has lice and ticks"?

I would hope someone would call me on my Cheneying Wolfowitz.

8. I'm sure that's why she did it
Just to bring up the thought. I'm glad people called her out on it. She responded by saying she didn't think it was always the case (oh, really? :eyes:). And she wished that she could find the study because she found it "interesting".

12. Not in my town!
In the neighborhood that I drive through to and from work, there's a large number of Kerry/Edwards/local Dems' signs. The few Bush/Cheney/local fascist signs are in yards that look like they haven't been mown or cared for in some time, and being that it is a high tax-base neighborhood, I'm sure their neighborts aren't pleased.

14. They Must Have Seen My Yard
We moved our mobile home to a covenant-protected area six years ago. We were supposed to have it landscaped within six months. It still isn't. My lawn is whatever native plants took root. And earlier I had to use a sickle to chop down the weeds in our dog kennel - the girls were making tunnels through them to get to their houses...
