Yankees sign Chinese player Feng Shui for ALCS

NEW YORK (Ticker)-New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner announced today that he has taken an unprecedented move of making a roster change just before the beginning of the League Championship Series with the rival Boston Red Sox. The Yankees owner announced that he has orchestrated the addition of a Chinese player named Feng Shui, a move to broaden the Yankees' already huge international appeal.

American League officials are checking on the legality of this move but a Yankee front office source said that special circumstances are involved that "make us feel really good about our situation".

Steinbrenner remarked;"we really feel that Feng Shui will add a lot of energy to the organization" and "I have heard lots of really good things about Feng Shui and if I didn't think this move would help us win I wouldn't have made it and you can write that down".

This move is the result of the unlikely arrangement between "The Boss" Steinbrenner and his former nemisis Ted Turner. The special circumstances are that Feng Shui seems to have been out of baseball for much of the recent past but Turner assured Steinbrenner that he did hold the valid rights to Shui and that once the $8 Million was transferred Steinbrenner would hold the rights for 2 years.

Calls to Chinese baseball officials on Feng Shui's playing history were not returned at post time.
