There is something running around on my roof.
Not in the attic, there's no attic crawlspace in this section of the house. It sounds small and fast. The squirrels are probably asleep, I would think. Could be a rat? Are they nocturnal? Or maybe possum?

hope it's not a rat. I HATE RATS!

13. Could be (drat, what movie was that?) maybe it was a package
deal with the gnu & ostrich...

I had bats once, they scritched. Nice neighbors actually, they really cut down the pesky visitors in an environmentally conscious way, plus, it kept the dogs occupied.

3. where are you?
Oppossums are nocturnal. we're on the very northern end of their range, but a couple of years ago i almost ran over one on my bike out for a moonlight ride.
A squirrel might run about if looking for a way out.
sorry but i think mice and rats are largely nocturnal, too.
might want to adopt a very large cat...

wish I could find a copy of it online. They may not climb too well, but they sure look good on top o' the Capitol.

25. Get really drunk,
break out the 12 gauge, fill it full of turkey-shot shells and let loose whenever you hear anything.

You'll get a whole new level of respect from the neighbors -- when you get out of jail.

...

Maybe rats -- they are websites that discuss the signs and how to get rid of them. Some of the tips work for other critters too. They call them "roof rats" for a reason.

38. Madagascar or North Carolina?
Do they commute?
Are they on speaking terms?
Are they so large that they straddle Africa & The Atlantic and live in both simultaneously (man, I'd hate to see crispini's roof repair bill if that is the case)

Enquiring minds want to know!

44. LOL
The Aye Aye is a species of lemur (it's one of the most endangered of the lemurs). North Carolina is home to the only Primate Center that is ONLY for prosimian primates (lemurs and lorises and bushbabies, oh my!). So they have the only Aye Ayes in the country. But they sometimes loan them out to zoos....but statistically speaking...you'd only see one of these creepy things in Madagascar or escaped from the Duke Primate Center in NC.

:D

My favorite Halloween animal....so of course I thought of them.

here's another picture:

They have a 6-inch middle finger that is almost completely bone and it is in a ball & socket joint (like your thumb) so they can spin it around to hunt for insects in wood.

So maybe they could go scritch scritch scritch on your roof. :)
