I've played with some good ones. Jimmy Chamberlin, for one. The first band Jimmy was ever in was mine. He was about 16 at the time, and he played about 3 parts of songs, and i said "That's enough, do you want to be in the band or not?"
The drummer i've been playing with since 1986 is a monster player, and is one of my best friends. So, that's really lucky! Good drummer and good friend in the same person!
Scott was LOUD!!!! He plays at least 10dB louder than John, so yes, we did have to turn up the bass, guitar and the PA a bit. Not ridiculously, but some! From 4 to 5, but not to 11!
If you haven't heard these guys, they're really good. They have a real clever bit on the new album in which they use a sample lift of Rare Earth's "Celebrate". Scott has it sampled, plays to a click, and hits a trigger pad when they need the chorus chant. It's really good! Sort of Rage Against the Machine meets Rare Earth. The Professor
