Anyone here familiar with Lowe's employment practices? Advice pls
My 59 yr old divorced friend became unemployed due to the great state of the nation. New Lowes store..sounded good...She was told alot of great things about Lowe's and now is working....get this

11 hours per day, 6 days straight, week after week...

Told her the salary would be 30,000....comes to $5.00 per hour...BUT they pay her medical (she only has to pay 70) compared to the $350 a mo. she was paying, so she feels trapped.

My God, how can a corporation do this??? She's exhausted.

She wants to move to Florida next year and they have promised to MOVE her to another location. I told her that didn"t sound right to me...

Anyone familiar with the Lowes work ethics.

Tks

1. Yeah ... they call it "Chinese Overtime"
My brother works for them. He started as an hourly, after being "promoted" to "specialist" (I think that's what they call it) he was made 'salaried.' Well, here's how that works: They make you work overtime, though they do pay you for it, but your overtime rate of pay is calculated by taking your base weekly salary and dividing it by the number of hours you actually worked. So, the more you work, the lower the hourly rate. Nice, huh?

I go there alot and the employee turn over is pretty bad.So many places know they have a huge workforce to abuse now that Bushkins has done so much for the regular people....I need a job so much and the places that are hiring, just seem to keep people untill they realize how shitty they are to work for.Wish I could help.

4. My son worked there for a while. At first he liked it,
and he is a very pleasant and helpful guy with customers -- customers tend to come back and ask for him specifically -- but he got on the wrong side of somebody higher up and the shit started raining down. His hours were cut, he was working split days, all sorts of shit. He finally had to quit because he couldn't even pay his rent on what he was making.
