Because it bears repeating... "Arlen Specter... you mah bitch!"
First off, here's the inspirational news story:
Frist: Specter must prove himself for Judiciary post
Sunday, November 14, 2004

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Sen. Arlen Specter must prove to his Republican colleagues that he is the right man to head the Senate Judiciary Committee in the next Congress, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Sunday.

Frist, R-Tennessee, would not say if he backed Specter, R-Pennsylvania, for the job. Specter will make his case to GOP colleagues this week when Congress returns for a postelection session.

And here's your all time favorite DU song... (and you can sing along!) "Arlen Specter, you mah bitch!"

1. You know what! If I'd been the counsel for the Warren Commission....
I wouldn't take shit from anybody. I would just tell them to put my fat ass on the Supreme Court or any other office I wanted. This guy has the goods on the whole system. Where is his sense of dignity, pride, and, most importantly, ruthlessness. He should pull down the whole house of cards. Somebody should send him a tape of "Mommy Dearest" where Joan Crawford backs down the Chairman and entire Board of Directors for PepsiCo. Now she was nobody's bitch but her own.

2. Specter's trump card
If he's rejected -- and humiliated -- by Frist and Company, he could jump ship and become a Democrat in a state the Republicans covet.

Coming over to the Democratic party would probably include making him the head of the Democratic Judiciary Committee. It would also possibly trigger a mass defection of moderates from the GOP.

And, of course, Specter could have the goods on some one or some group. He's covered his patoot on all sides and won't tolerate being abused.

7. But it really doesn't have to
If Arlen can convince a couple of GOP wheeler-dealers that he might jump ship, they'll work like hell to smooth over the intra-party rift. Which is what I think they're doing.

4. Frist shouldn't be so naive....
...Specter has the goods on the whole damn system. I'm sure that the Repugs will eventually tell Frist to shut the hell up.

5. Nah, Arlen Specter's been rolling over and playing nice for decades
He knows that they let him in the Club years ago and he’s not going to risk getting booted out now--and certainly he’s not going to passively walk away just because they’ve snubbed him yet one more time. The dude is OWNED.
