Boy Refused To Stop Playing Game Boy In Class Tasered By Police
<snip>

Police in Lincoln Park had to use a Taser gun -- twice -- to subdue a kicking and screaming 14-year-old boy who wouldn't stop playing his Nintendo Game Boy during class.

The boy, who appeared in juvenile court Friday on a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer, was uninjured, except for a scrape on his right temple that happened Thursday during the lengthy tussle with three police officers and the assistant principal at Lincoln Park High School.

According to a report filed in Wayne County Family Court by Lincoln Park Police Sgt. Charles Kaminski of the youth bureau, the boy was sent to the assistant principal's office because he refused to stop playing his Game Boy when the teacher told him to stop.

Once in the office, the boy refused to surrender the Game Boy to assistant principal Larry Phillips, who promised to return it to him after school.

When the boy continued to refuse to hand over the electronic game, school liaison Officer Paul Cochran was called. Cochran started to conduct a pat-down search of the boy and he started swinging fists and kicking at the officer, the police report said.

7. Toddler tasered for not using potty,
the toddler immediately soiled himself in reaction to the taser, and law enforcement officials were forced to taser him a second time.

3. Two silly questions:
1) What business did the cop have patting the kid down in that situation?

2) Why was the cop called and not the kid's parents?

I've never liked cops much, and I'm starting to really despise the abusive thugs now.

21. The stupid thing is they know they can do anything they want to now...
Bush will protect them as long as they are doing this stupid shit in the name of justice and anti terrorism. Although I don't think a kid with a gameboy is going to hurt anyone. But I guess I can't say what I'd do because I've never been in that situation. But I CAN say that I think they are having way too much fun tasering these kids.

13. That's ridiculous. I mean, I'm all for the republican police state
mentality and punishing the nonconformists and making sure kids know their proper place and using force for even the slightest infraction because any crime against authority is a crime against God Himself, and also against our Savior George FuckNuts, and people need to learn how to behave and using torture or force to instill that lesson is fine with me, but tasering a child - that's outrageous.

And I really do mean that - what's up with that principal? Just take the goddamn game boy from the kid. What a wuss. When I was a kid, we had principals who had courage, even the women. They didn't have to call the cops in to help with a kid playing a video game.

Evil fucks.

34. But they didn't shoot him, did they?
Its not about this asshole, its about the other kids who have a right to an educational environment free from deliberate disruption. This poor little shitbags rights are all that matter to you, (and as I pointed out, he had the power to end the situation any time he wanted). But you couldn't care less about the rest of the kids in that school, and the school administrators who have to deal with this bullshit. Its all about the poor little "victim" who was defiant and violent.

I was completely on the other side of this issue when it was a grade school student, but this is high school, this kid is old enough that if he is insufficiently socialized to take part in the education process, he shouldn't be there ruining it for the others.

39. You define whats liberal?
The democratic party loses elections because we have lost sight of the forest for the trees, devote 90 percent of our energy for 10% of the people. The other 1,000 students at that school had their environment improved by the removal of this asshole, but you feel I am not liberal because I think thats a good thing.

Whats not "liberal" enough for you? That I don't wring my hands and shriek "won't someone think of the children?" like the woman in the crowd on "The Simpsons" whenever something happens?

When did the definition of "liberal" change? Liberal means favoring economic justice, redistributive social and tax policies, and making it one of the functions of government to ensure the social welfare of the people.

Gay marriage rights, abortions, Hillary's ridiculous asinine "childrens rights" crap, those are sideshows that this party has allowed to make the party a caricature.

35. You people really only see one side...
What the hell was the kid doing with a gameboy at school to begin with???
What the hell is wrong with the parents for allowing him to take the gameboy to school???
What kind of behavior are his parents teaching him???

I'm not advocating tasing children, but good god, that sure isn't the only side to this story...come on people!

If that were my kid, they would get a spanking when they got home, and they would be grounded from the gameboy until they learned to act appropriately. That behavior shouldn't be tolerated by anyone.

40. Kid should not have been tasered.
He should have been sent to the principal's office, one of the parents called and sent home until he was ready to come to school with an attitude that would not have disrupted the class.

The kid is lucky that I wasn't teaching the class, I would have taken away his game boy until the end of the school day.

41. I'm in the minority here, but GOOD!
What kind of moron faced with a taser-wielding cop wouldn't put down the stupid Game-Boy? What a moron.

By the way, he was tasered for punching and kicking, IE violence, not for playing with the game boy as the headline suggests.

Hope he enjoys his time in the clink.

If I were a student at that school of a mind to actually spend my class time LEARNING, I would resent a snot-nose like that being in the classroom. Good riddance.

43. I actually know Sgt. Kaminski and he is a stand-up cop
I used to be a delinquency worker in the Western Wayne County area. I love Sgt. Kaminski, he is a very good youth officer in an area with completely out of control suburban youth.

The kid didn't get tasered because he didn't give up the Game Boy, he got tasered for kicking and punching at the police, and generally being a pain in the ass.

Most kids I worked with liked Sgt. Kaminski. They called him "Bozo" behind his back, because he has orange hair, but is balding in the middle. He knows this and thinks it's funny.
