most Akitas wouldn't mind a cat clawing and biting as it attacked the cat. would consider that a minor nuisence. Akitas are big game hunting dogs, like bear and wild boar (or actually anything that moves).
wolves generally hunt in packs and work together. Akitas are generally more independent.
there was a cat that used to walk in front of my french doors going out to my patio....you could tell she did it just to piss off my dog. One day the door wasn't quite shut all the way. My dog had the cat by the neck and made about three swings with her neck and that was it. I had to take the dead cat over to my neighbors house.....wanted to say "it was the damn cat's fault"...lol
I have an 8 pound cat and a 95 pound dog. For years, the dog will not pass the cat on the stairs because he's afraid of her. My cat definitely intimidates the dog.
