Republican Squirrel in my yard!!

I put out food for the birds and squirrels. I get many kinds of birds and two kinds of squirrels - the big fox squirrels and the little red squirrels. One of the things is I put out is a "seed log" - a formed, brick-like cake of seeds that hangs from an imbedded plastic hook. Well, instead of just eating his share and leaving the rest for the rest of the birds and squirrels, one of the fox squirrels took the log right off the hook and dragged it away (probably to his nest in the tree next door). Thus saying, in typical neocon reichwing fashion: "HA! I GOT MINE! F*CK THE REST OF YOU!!!"

I shot mine. Made me feel good until I realized he probably had a family to feed. Now I am bummed big time.

I don't shoot 'em, just make sure there's at least SOME food that they can't get to, but that the other critters can. I've got one birdfeeder with a squirrel guard, and the red squirrels are so much more athletic (and smaller) than the fox squirrels, I can put out a seedcake (actually a seed "bell") that they can jump on, but the fox squirrels can't.

i wish there were more squirrels in our neighborhood. i enjoy watching them. and having watched them, i would say that in this regard, all squirrels are republican.
