http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20030922-115106-3739r.htm

Looks like gay bashing is high up on GOP list this year!

Any lurking Log Cabineers please feel free to defend this son of a bitch.

1. I really hope they do...
Put forth an anti-gay platform, fellas, and see how quickly you turn off voters. Repukes are such scum-sucking pigs.

Cheers,
-A

4. If they're going to call us bigots you know what we have to do
We have to figure out some things that have long been considered the domain of glbt folks and draft a constitutional amendment banning straight people from participating.

Any suggestions

5. wonder if he knows the definition of "bigotry"?

resembles Ashcroft a bit

Ed Gillespie is the Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Before re-joining the RNC he was founder of Quinn Gillespie & Associates, a bipartisan public affairs firm that provides strategic advice, public relations services, and government representation to corporations, trade associations and issue-based coalitions

He was general strategist for Elizabeth Dole’s senate campaign, helping Dole garner the biggest margin of victory of any Senate candidate in North Carolina in over 25 years. Dole and her opponent, former Clinton chief-of-staff Erskine Bowles, waged the most expensive senate race in 2002, and the Dole campaign has been cited by numerous political analysts as one of the best of the election cycle.

In 1996, Gillespie served as Director of Communications and Congressional Affairs for the Republican National Committee under then-Chairman Haley Barbour. Prior to that, he served for over a decade as a top aide to former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX). He was a principal drafter of the now famous “Contract with America,” which in 1994 swept Republicans to control of the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Gillespie edited the paperback book Contract with America, which climbed to number two on the New York Times’ Best-Seller List in February 1995.

The 41-year-old New Jersey native is a graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. While at CUA, he began his career on Capitol Hill as a Senate parking lot attendant. He is married to the former Cathy Hay, executive director of U.S. Rep. Joe Barton’s political action committee -- the Texas Freedom Fund. The two met playing softball in the Capitol Hill League. They have three children: John Patrick, Carrie and Mollie Brigid.

9. Projection!
Conservatives do a whole lot of projection.

It's also a rehash of that tired old, "If you were really tolerant you'd tolerate the intolerant!" line.

10. Let me say this about that:
Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 04:09 PM by undisclosedlocation
1) It has been my conviction all along that the Texas sodomy decision was an intentional move by the VRWC (vast right-wing conspiracy to its friends) so that they could ramp up the culture wars and send out the O'Limbity boys to claim that ya just gotta vote Republican so Bush can root out all those commie judges.

2) I believe this is the same assclown who gave the RNC response to the most recent Dem debate, claiming that the candidates were pandering "hate speech." Dr. Goebbels also enjoyed taking on the language of actual aggrieved parties and throwing it against them. This time the pot is calling the new linen sheets black; I wonder if they can get away with it?

Regardless, expect more of this. This is not a loose cannon; this is a strategy.

14. Faulty Logic Alert!
>>"Many of us who are practicing Catholics deal with in our own fashion," Mr. Gillespie said. "I accept people for who they are — and love them. That doesn't mean I have to agree or turn my back on the tenets of my faith when it comes to homosexuality."<<

The nerve! See that bit about -- 'and love them'? Bullshit. Total bullshit and here's why: this is about blind justice, what's good for you is good for me. This is not about FAITH or religion...these GOP fundamentalist christians can go boil their heads for their faith -- I couldn't care less. Truth is -- they are denied nothing under the law, nothing. The law grants them every advantage America has to offer. His arguement is bullshit.

>>He said, "I think when people say, 'Well, no, that's not enough that you accept me for who I am, you have to agree with — and condone — my choice,' that to me is religious bigotry, and I believe that's intolerant. I think they are the ones who are crossing a line here."<<

FAULTY LOGIC here is "...you have to agree with - and condone - my choice". Crap, simple crap. No one is forcing these pea-brains to accept or condone anything. We are simply saying, keep your God out of my government; g/l/b/t couples should have the same privileges under the law that 'married couples' have; and perhaps most importantly -- we don't need your goddamn faith based bullshit to legitimate or SANCTIFY our relationships. So fuck off. :grr:

Jesus H. Christ, these people couldn't think their way out of a wet paper bag. Duplicitous, disingenuous, double-speak! Every last word of it. Ladies and Gentlemen, witness the true face of evil in America - the fundies of the GOP. I have news for them (all of them), Gay people will prevail - you can bank that.

If you're interested in gay couples please see this link: http://www.gaydemographics.org/

It has 2000 census information on Gay Americans and a glimpse or two of international same-sex couples.

15. The LCRs would defend the idiot, saying it was "an unfortunate choice of
words."

I love how they're trying to spin the situation.

Why should I tolerate them anyway? They haven't a clue at how to make the world a better place. All they can do is give rich people more money and bomb the smeg out of any country they don't personally like. As long as it doesn't affect THEM personally, they don't care. (I can be selfish too, but that doesn't mean I don't do selfless things.)

Maybe I am a bigot for saying that. Maybe a "reverse-bigot" just as discrimination against whites is "reverse discrimination". At this point, the people I'm against need to apologize and compromise BIG-TIME before I can respect them again. (there are good Republicans, but most of what's wrong has been committed by the PNAC people and the neo-cons.)

16. I say, Bring it on 'Pukes!
Sounds like they're on the way to outdoing the hate-fest of their 1992 convention. They screwed themselves big time with that display.

Let them spew their homophobia, racism, fascism, and tax cuts for the rich on live network TV. Even FAUX propaganda's not going to be able to mask all of that and make it sound positive.
