Is all of this extreme weather starting to get freaky to you?
The entire world is experiencing extreme weather and natural disasters. I started paying more attention to the weather during Florida's bizarre hurricane season. Tsunami. Extreme flooding and winds, snowfall, landslides, flooding, threatening volcanoes, a major glacier event. Statistical records are broken frequently and in the extreme. I think it's frightening. :wtf:

9. I can't go to work until Friday when the 101 reopens. Just announced
You think I'd be happy about staying home for a week. x(

The timing was just crazy. A few hours later, and we'd all be stuck at work and unable to get home. So it could have been worse.

And it's not like we had a tsunami, so counting blessings, ya know?

16. I have a friend in Ventura - she called yesterday about your tornado watch
She was so shocked about it! Usually we're talking about MY tornado watches (I'm in KS)! Please be safe there. I heard about the third storm you are supposed to be getting this week.

I'm pretty spooked by the strange weather, too. Good thing we don't have a problem with global warming! :eyes:

according to the news yesterday. Tsunami was from the worst earthquake in 40 years. And I believe Ohio & environs said they were having the worst snow in 40 years.

12. Don't forget ice storms
In north-central Ohio, we've had, in addition to flooding, some pretty horrid ice storms, which in the last few weeks have caused massive power outages of as much as a week or more for tens of thousands of people. Not to compare this to the horrible rain devastation in California, but I thought I'd add this to the list, because it's one more sign of extreme weather that is very out of character for the time of year.

:grr:

This place already needs way more maintenance than I can afford to spend on it.

I'm not frightened; I just wish it would be a little more accomodating. I'd like to be able to turn it on and off on command, lol.

from my husband's brother and watched it last week. It was weird enough seeing it after the tsunami, but then the next few days we started hearing about snow in Las Vegas and the storms in "sunny" So Cal. It was really freaking me out.

24. tsunami, volcanoes-not weather related-though volcano activity
has been known to cause changes in the weather. I would not be surprised if the drenching of large areas by tsunamis cause climatic changes
but the rest-yes. as a professional gardener I notice A LOT of stuff happening at the wrong time of year the last few years.:scared:

28. We have too.
My GF is a Master Gardener, and she says the EXACT same thing, "Stuff is happening at the wrong time of the year..."
She was picking up trash last week while I was out on my bike on that 62-degree day we had here in Horthern Indiana, and she saw tulips poking their noses through the mulch.

27. My S/O is in Southern Utah where CNN (yech) has been...
reporting and showing video of a house sliding into a river. He called this evening and said he can't get to the jobsite 'cuz all the bridges are closed. He saw mobile homes floating down the river yesterday and told me an 18 hole golf course was completely washed out.

30. We had some blizzard-like conditions up here in Washington state
Edited on Tue Jan-11-05 10:29 PM by Biased Liberal Media
in Whatcom County. It was bizarre. We were stuck in our house all weekend long too. The wind gusts were up with 50 mph and it was snowing. Made for poor visiblity and hard driving on the roads. Many people ended up being blown off the road or driving into ditches up here.

Now the wind is blowing again and we're expecting MORE snow. Ugh...

ETA: now we have a "coastal flood watch" warning up. Lovely!!!! You know...we've been under flood watch since October...the rivers here have almost crested, crested in some places. Luckily we're not in a flood plain.

33. Yeah it usually snows around January...but I am not sure if
this blizzard-like condition is normal for WA. I'll tell you what though- there was a cold front that came down from Canada and that is what brought all this junk on.

Mr. BLM said it's the worst he's seen in years, and he grew up here (I grew up in California).
