2. More Than A Pain
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 04:58 AM by Don_G
It took me less than 4 hours to drive from Louisville to Chicago.

Why did it take an additional 5 to drive 30 something miles?

On Edit: Spent another 3 hours with a cop explaining why I was lost.

4. Timing my friend, timing.
I always tried to be in Chicago before 4am local time. And skip I94/
I294 is the best route at that time.

3. Oh...You Must've Listened To Metro Traffic...LOL
They tell you where the traffic's messed up 30 minutes ago, so by the time you get there it's not jammed up, but they fail to tell you about rolled-over semi that's only 2 miles ahead...LOL.

I dunno...as a lifelong Chicagoan, I don't think getting around this city is too bad (comparison: Boston), but Friday Afternoon/Early Evening is a real pain. Everyone's either trying to get out of town and home or from home back downtown.

Plus it didn't help the Cubbie game was at 7:00...offices let out early, too.

Enjoy Chicago...honestly, this is one hell of a great place.

6. Cubbies Playing In Chicago?
Forgive me but I have sinned and have ignored "The Schedule" and "The Play-Offs."

Just trying to wrap up my Mom's estate and get back to work.

9. Ooops
Sorry, Don,

You hit town in the rare time when the Sun, Moon and Cubs converge in the playoffs. Remember it's been since 1945 that this team even made it to the series.

Sorry to hear about the estate...I'm doing the same thing here, hope it's not a difficult matter.

At least I hope you stopped off for a REAL Chicago hot dog while you were here.

Cheers

10. I'm Here For A Week...Minimum
I might drop off to sleep tonight and I might "drop" a few bucks to attend any game in the playoffs.

Besides work, the only thing I intended to DU was to get a friend back on line...and invite anyone in the Chicago area for Beer and Brauts, my treat....

5. The Bottom Line Is I'm Here
For a week at least.

If anyone wants to get together for a burger and a beer, I'm buying.

Besides, I'll probably need your advice on how to escape. New York wasn't this bad!!!!!

8. I Was Born There
I expect "that" traffic and know how to plan for it.

I just never knew I'd be better off parking my car in Indy and taking the train into "that" town.

I suppose I was lucky the other four times.

11. Welcome
I saw your string about a get-together...I have to see what my "calendar" (aka wife) has planned...or if there's a terror alert :spank:

Hope you get to enjoy some time to explore the city...it's truely a unique place...especially if you get out of downtown and check out some of the neighborhoods.

If you plan to get around outside the rushes (10am-3pm & after 7) things are too bad around here. I've driven Manhattan, but downtown Boston (mid Big Dig) and those crooked, small streets, are still the worst.
