LITTLE RICHARD MEETS THE BEATLES! (A rare photo from 1964.)

My god, the Beatles were young back then! And note that the caption refers to Little Richard as "The King." Interesting.

2. Paul, I think, was the Beatle most influenced by Little Richard.
He looks genuinely blissed out in this pic.

6. Paul sang lead on the Fab Four's excellent remake of Little Richard's...
..."Long, Tall Sally." Hell, it was almost as good as the original, and that's saying a lot! :headbang:

8. I think "I'm Down" would have been great
if Rev. Penniman had covered it!

3. Wow they look like little kids
I guess they were when Beatlemania first went down, but I don't remember seeing a picture that showed their age like this.

Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 04:47 PM by SmileyBoy
You know, Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy and American Dad.

7. The Beatles copied Little Richard
In many ways. And I can remember one of them saying (it may have been John or Paul) that they were really excited about meeting Little Richard because He was like a god to them.
And if the truth be known Little Richard was the King of Rock and Roll. but I suppose you could consider Elvis the King but if you did it would make Little Richard the high priest or the Michaelangelo.

9. They loved American pop music
and never hesitated to mention their influences. Everything from Little Richard to Elvis to show tunes to girl groups to rockabilly to obscure R&B.

10. They were heavily influenced by Blues as well
And probably even Bill Haley and the Comets.
But as to singing I think Little Richard was the most influential.
To those that never lived in that era they could not understand just how different Little Richards style was to America at that time. It was shocking Because no one in thouse days could sing that way with so much power and energy. And the lyrics were sexual at the same time, which made it twice as shocking to the older generation.
