RE: Clinton. Is anyone else alarmed, or curious?
Ok. I don't know, alarmed may be the wrong word.

But he looks sooooooo soooo thin. I'm sure his doctors have given him the all clear, or he wouldn't be out and about- not to mention about to go view the Tsunami damge.

I'm not saying he looks terrible- just very thin & Pale.

They just showed him at the Superbowl & I was like WHAT?!?!?

I saw him in late October at the John Kerry rally here in Philadelphia- Bill's first appearance back since the surgery. He looked thinner but still good.

Anyone?

And actually, Clinton was wearing a lighter blue suit which didn't serve him very well. IMHO

2. I think he looks pretty good for a man his age!
He's cut out probably all fatty foods, which can make anyone lose weight quickly. I think he looks pretty good, maybe a little tired, but good. I know several people who have had the same surgery he's been through and look the same as he does.

had the five-way bypass. He is very thin now and has been since the surgery. He is on a low cholesterol, low fat, low sodium diet--and says he feels better than he has in years.

8. I noticed how thin he looked too. His arms went in below his
shoulders. I was rather shocked how thin he looked! But he still looked handsome and sexy!

10. I'm surprised every time I see him
at how thin he looks. I hope he's well. My mom had a quad bypass about 5 years ago and didn't lose nearly so much weight.

11. I've never had a bypass, but have had heart surgery (just 2 weeks ago
for my last 2 arterial stents).

He's probably overdoing it, but good on him anyway.

I hope he's watching his diet, too; if he is, he's BOUND to lose weight without much effort on his part. I trimmed up like crazy after my first bout without actually losing weight, although everyone thought I had (I gained muscle).

Also, the meds might have something to do with it, especially those for blood pressure. If that's the case, he needs to have them adjusted.

Oh, yes, I speak from experience, and I'm only 45. My first near heart attack (I've never actually had one, but too damn close) was at 41.

12. He's not standing up straight like he used to,
something is wrong. He always had that shoulders back posture before. I think he probably tried to do too much, too fast.

14. Undiagnosed heart trouble can make you feel pretty crappy for a long
Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 08:48 PM by blondeatlast
time before it's diagnosed. You know you don't feel well, but you can't put your finger on a particular symptom.

When I went to the ER 2 days before my near cardiac, I just told them I'd been feeling tired, crappy, absolutely no energy. I'd let the laundry, housework, even my then 5 year old kid go somewhat neglected.

They checked everything they could and sent me on my merry way.

Two days later I collapsed at work and there was no doubt then.

I hope he's not doing too much. He needs to take enough time to fully recover.

18. my dad is STILL underweight from his bypass surgery
...and my dad's surgery was in 2001. Some people have trouble gaining the weight back, especially if (as in my dad's case) they were at proper or maybe a little thin for their age to begin with.

I know Clinton wasn't any skinny minny but his surgery wasn't that long ago. Give him time to regain a healthy appetite.

Also don't forget. One reason it can be hard to gain after bypass surgery is that you are not supposed to EVER eat large meals again because processing the fat/cholesterol in a large meal can be a challenge. You are supposed to eat a lot of little meals. But you know, when you are a busy person, what happens is...my dad cuts his restaurant meal in half as per the doctor's order, and the half in the doggy bag he is just plain too busy and forgets to eat. WHo has time to eat the much vaunted six meals a day???

So it can be difficult to regain the weight.

I admit it does tug at the heart, though, doesn't it? I think Clinton will be fine but one can't help but worry.

25. since Clinton is younger I would tend to agree
Older folk need a little more meat on their bones in my book because if they require cancer treatment or another treatment that suppresses appetite it is a worry if they are already thin.

Clinton being so young it is actually better for him to be a bit on the thin side because it reduces his risk of developing certain diseases in the first place.

Well, I'm not a doctor, but that's my reasoning anyway. My dad's getting up there so it sounds like the doctors would like him to have a little extra weight for safety reasons if he can gain without consuming too much fat/cholesterol all in a rush.

22. Well, he was always a bit overweight. And losing weight
rapidly can cause the face to sag a bit, which might explain his more haggard appearance as of late.

It might not be unhealthy; it might just be the product of cutting a lot of greasy Southern cuisine out of one's diet.
