Chinese Language TV programming in the US?
My in-laws will likely be coming to visit us from China within a few months. While most dread the in-laws coming for a visit, we welcome it, as my mother-in-law was our daughter's live in nanny for the first 10 months of her life.

However, I felt sad for my mother-in-law when she was here last time, as she only had the Phoenix Channel to watch on Direct TV for Mandarin Chinese programming. I know that Phoenix is also available on DISH (which we have now) Heck, when I went to China last year, I always had at least CNN-International, the BBC, ESPN & HBO, as well as the English version of CCTV to watch.

Are there any other satellite networks out there that would offer more options for foreign language programming? (Both Dish & Direct TV have other Chinese language options, but in Cantonese, which my in-laws do not speak)

Thanks

1. Never mind - found more on DISH
17 channels for $29.99 a month.

2. BLAH to DISH right now. We can't get one of their main
satellites to tune in at all the last two days, which means we are missing most of our fave channels... including the networks. And yet the spotlight setting is coming in at 100+. Go figure.

3. sorry to hear that
Direct TV seemed a bit more reliable reception-wise for us, but it often got "hung up", and we've never had DISH get hung up.

4. The only thing that almost won my hubby over to DirecTv was that
football ticket. As far as everything else goes, we've enjoyed DISH.

When it works, anyway. *g*

5. If you can get the International Channel on your cable or satellite system
they have several Mandarin programs from both China and Taiwan, including news and a couple of dramas.
