I DON'T HATE KIDS!!!!!
In GD, there is a fight going on having adult restaurants which then turned into a parents vs. non-parents thread.

I'll admit, I got a little snippy but to clear the record: I don't hate kids. I'm not crazy about them but I don't hate them. Not all people who don't want kids hate them, you know. They just don't want any.

Neither side is better than the other. Can't we all just get along?

1. I don't ~hate~ them, per se, but I'd rather not be around any

3. I second that.
Which is why I don't have any. It's also why I don't think I should be subjected to a crying baby while eating out, just like I don't sit in the non-smoking section with a fat cigar.

4. Make it thirded.
reprehensor and I don't have any; don't want any. Screaming children in restaurants are one of my main pet peeves.

2. Yeah, I kinda got that that vibe too on a couple of my posts.
Particularly the one about the kids running wild in the grocery store.

I don't mind kids being in the grocery store, but I do mind when their parents don't keep them close. It scares me when I round a corner and almost flatten a running child with my cart and the mom is 3 rows over. I don't really care about the screaming child throwing a hissy fit over not getting a candy bar in the checkout aisle, but letting your kids run wild while you are shopping is dangerous.

6. I love kids.
It is the irresponsible, clueless, inconsiderate parents I hate.

12. I agree-many parents let their kids run wild in stores and restaurants
Edited on Wed Feb-09-05 03:30 PM by Beaverhausen
and it's easy to blame the kids when it is the parents fault.

I see kids playing with and, yes, breaking things in stores. My favorite thing is kids running under and through racks of clothes. But if no adult is telling them to stop how are they to know any better?

13. Yes
parenting is the hardest job in the world. It takes a lot of work and if the parents do not do it the kids will run wild, it is not their fault at all.

16. Bingo
totally with you there. Our daughter is great, but if she makes a peep in a restaurant we take her outside, into the bathroom etc.

Parents need to get out and go get a meal occasionally, and it's nice to bring the baby, or kids, but if you can't control them then don't inflict them on me.

8. FWIW I have kids and
Think there should always be a "kids" section to a restaraunt.

Kids can distract from the dining experience

11. You can't have the "kid hater" title
That belongs to me and CO Liberal. :)

FWIW - I hate brats and know it all teenagers. But I LOVE my step-kids. Go figure.

14. People are too damned oversensitive.
I have children.
I work with children.
I love children!!!

However, when I go out to a grown-up type restaurant (late, mind you) and pay a decent amount of money, I'd prefer a little break from the kiddos of the world. I have no problem with this concept.

15. Kids in R rated movies is probably the only thing that really gets my goat
And that is because IMHO kids should NOT be seeing that kind of thing. But obviously it is their parents' call.

Once I was out late at an R rated movie and some kid behind me got scared and dumped his/her soda on my head. I know it was not the kid's fault. Hell, Im an adult and the movie freaked me out too.

Kids are just being kids. I don't want any myself, but that's because I understand that it is such a hard job to raise children. Kudos to all good parents out there :)
