What goes through your mind when you hear those words?

4. Definitely dread...
The same dread that I get when reading an email from the boss which reads: "See me when you get back from lunch."

:scared:

7. "see me when you get back from lunch"
Whenever I hear those words, I see the boss IMMEDIATELY. And more often than not, s/he will say, "No, we'll talk after lunch," which drives me even more crazy. :argh:

16. Ditto
That's the phrase of death in relationships -- I'm to a point where I hear that and immediately and involuntarily start tearing up.

5. Occasionally I've said it to male co-workers in a very serious way just
to mess with them- and then talk about something work related that isn't that important... I know, I'm a terrible person.

If I must say " We need to talk" first I start with "Nothings wrong, however" or "We can work this out, but"

Ahh shit what now?
Whenever I hear that, it's never about what WE need to do, it's always about what I am doing wrong.

15. I am off work till Tuesday and the last thing my supervisor said to me
yesterday was "When you get back we'll have to get together to talk about how things are going". What the hell does that mean? If he had something negative I'd rather enjoy my 5 days off without worrying about it. And I don't know that it does, I just wish he hadn't said it.

18. Delaying the talk is cruel and unusual punishment
I'm trying to remember if anything good has ever happened after those 4 words...nothing comes to mind.

There are different situations when someone says we need to talk other than being dumped or being fired.

I know "other" is there. Ok, maybe I'm just being too picky.
