Poll question: Can you touch type? Or do you still hunt and peck?
I can touch type, myself, and learned many years ago. But with the tidal wave of home computers in the last decade, I was wondering how many people took a course (either in a class or using a typing computer program) to make things easier. I'm amazed at the number of people I know that still hunt and peck, some of them quite proficient - in their own way.

2. I am self taught
I am a very kinestetic person so I started to be able to touch type after doing it often for a while. I am not sure if I put my fingers in the right places, but it works for me. I usually can keep up with my train of thought now.

12. Same here. I never took a class
Last time I took a test (probably 20 years ago) I was at 70 wpm with pretty good accuracy. Of course the hours I spend on the internet can only help!

5. I peck, but I'm pretty fast at it.
The last time I was tested, I could score 40 wpm with ZERO errors. Not great, but not bad either.

9. Yes. I'm a "pecker"
I'm a fast and accurate pecker, however.

6. Touch type
I'm a legal transcriptionist and type 40-60 pages a day (double-spaced so not as bad as it sounds). The most-used letters are worn off of my keyboard.

8. A r e a l l y s l o w typist here
By the time I respond to most messages, they are in cyber space. Well maybe not, but will never be a proficient typist, as it does seem to require a certain hand-eye coordination.

14. I took typing in 10th grade. It's about the only thing I retained as a
sophomore. I almost lost my ability because they didn't make us type much in 11th and 12th grade. I got better in collage then when I got a computer I became pretty good because I used my computer almost every day. Use it or loose it.

It's really cute to watch him Peck, Peck, Peck. Typing is about the only thing I do better than my Dad.

If I couldn't type 90-95 wpm, I'd be here for three days typing out some of them, LOL!
