Besides, I like to eat. Gotta burn it off somehow.

5. same here
I sit all day and love to eat. So I HAVE to go to the gym to stay slim and fit. Once I'm there I am fine and I enjoy it but to get my ass out of the house to go there is the hard part.

15. don't you get enough exercise with your daughter
I can imagine that playing with her is quite some exercise.

I feel good after the gym also. Powered out but good.

Do you think you will have time again to go when you move back in with your parents?

17. I am just about moved in.
I need the exercise for my target areas. I don't get that from my daughter. And my main problem is my work hours. They have some wonderful 5:30 am aerobic classes (I really want the power yoga) but I am stuck at work when they happen. She has swimming lessons coming up-I am going to try and squeeze in some water aerobics at the same time (since the pools are right next to each other).

18. swimming is good
I like swimming.
I tried a couple of the aerobic classes they offer at my gym. But I have a problem with staying in the rythm. So I decided to just to the equipment for startes to get some shape. Bike, Cross stepper and all the other instruments of torture :)

19. I used to do aerobics and I did drill team one year in high
school (I take that back-I made it through one game and then pissed off the sponsor). I enjoy the rythym. Even when I was a runner I had a rhythm to running-it keeps you more focused.
And this summer, Callie has swimming, t-ball, and a few other activities-so it might be hard even then to get time of my own. And Missouri summers can be very hot and humid-they really suck for outdoor runs.

20. I am sure you will find a way
I was a bit taken aback by my bf the other day. We talked on the phone and I told him that I didn't go to the gym on Friday (didn't go to the gym the whole week due to different reasons - one was being lazy). Anyway he said then I need to get the step into it and the right mindset because when I am pregnant and have a child it will be even harder. And he was referring to me being pregnant with his child.

21. Wow! He must be planning to pick out a ring soon!
He is right, though-a pregnancy is easier when you are fit than when you are not. The labor is easier too.
I let myself go during my pregnancy and I am still fighting it-nearly 5 years later. I just can't get my stomach back to what it was before (but I did have a c-section). And my hips got bigger-not too thrilled there either.

no, I have my job here. But I will visit him during that time. And I will follow him wherever he has to go when I am married to him. No question about that. But as long as I am not married to him and we don't know if he gets reassigned to Germany I will not give up my hob. I am crazy but not stupid.

101. stilettos are out
for me.

It's a wonder that I can still walk in heels. I moved to a rural area with no sidewalks or paved driveways and for many years I didn't wear heels because they would sink into the dirt unless I walked on my toes. I became the first in my neighborhood to wear construction boots with a short skirt!

Then I divorced the gentleman and returned to turning up the thermostat for heat instead of carrying in wood for the stove.

55. I think there are so many different countries in Europe
and therefor too many different ways of life than that a extreme mindset has a chance. And also because of the history of Europe and Germany esp. we are more careful because we know what happened.
People got killed and banished because of their religion over the centuries and it had an impact on our mind setting. We had enough wars on our soils to know what damage it brings.

69. To be fair
F.R. probably gets as many disruptors as D.U., and they're remarkably similar in outlook (i.e., just trying to push the buttons of the members).

and I haven't done anything resembling sport since then either :)
Just started it because I can see that there is no way past it to keep my weight and loose a bit.

11. I graduated in 1998, '97 was the last time I went to gym.
I'm still the same body size I was in high school though (thin as a rail ). It's very difficult for me to gain weight. Blame it on genetics.

16. unfair!!!!
but I stayed slim over the years also. When I was in the States the first time in 1994/1995 I gained some weight due to the good food my guest family cooked. But when I came back to Germany I started studying and for some reason I ate not regulary and lost the pounds again.
But it is not only to loose weight right now, it is to stay fit also.

10. I try to go two times a week
and that thought came me the other day also. That it would be easier if I had someone to go with. Problem is I don't have that many friends here in Frankfurt. My friends are living all over Germany. Maybe I need to find me a friend at the gym.

12. You have to find something you love.
Otherwise you're going to have trouble sticking with it. It doesn't have to be in the gym. It could be hiking, jogging, basketball, gardening, etc. Find something you love to do that's physical and it won't seem like work.

54. work out at home to tapes
all you need is a step and some free weights. Skip the sweaty gym route - they are expensive, inconvenient and smelly.

62. alright then, try this
stand naked, completely NEKKED, in front of a full length mirror and turn around slowly EVERY DAY. Perhaps when you get out of the shower. Believe me, it will motivate you - it has motivated me to work out 4 - 5 times a week for the past 11 years.

63. I wake by my big mirrow every morning
after I got out of the shower to my bedroom to get dressed. So I see me every day. It is not that I am overweight, I weight 67 kg. I just like to loose 5-7 kg.
And it does motivate me. That and to know that my bf goes to the gym to stay fit also.

60. Getting to the gym is 90% of the battle. Force, cajole, trick yourself...
whatever, just to **get** to the gym. Once you're there, give yourself permission to leave after, say, 15 minutes, or 1/2 hour, etc.

Once you've gone about 3-4 times, you'll feel that you've invested enough time and sweat that you don't want to just drop all that effort into the flush-file.

You can do it, ffm172 -- :toast:

64. Oh, once I am there I stay for an hour and half
incl. changing, work out and showering. It is a pretty good time frame. But you are right, to have the motivation to GET there is the biggest problem after coming home after a long day at work and changing in comfi clothes

71. ask a friend to meet you at the gym
that way, you have to go. Once you're there, you'll try out some things at least. Treadmill, some free weights, whatever. The day or two after, your body will respond with a little soreness, but you'll like the feeling because pain means gain -- you've strengthened some part of you, and that's what motivates you to go back.
