Popping wheelies on a motorcycle on the interstate....#$I*$@*$(#
I was driving on an interstate highway with my daughter this afternoon and I jumped when I looked into my rearview mirror and saw the UNDERSIDE of a large Japanese motorcycle.

The guy was popping a wheelie right behind me. He did that a couple of more times (puts his knee on the seat then pulls back, hanging one leg behind him), then he got an opening in the lane to the left of me and went over there and started doing it.

Just going down a busy interstate highway on one wheel the whole time, no helmet.

PISSED ME THE HELL OFF.

Why? Well first off, it startled me so badly when I first saw the underside of the motorcycle in my mirror that I nearly lost control of my car (going 70). I can only imagine what it might do to an older driver or someone more easily startled.

Secondly, if a person has some strange wish to splatter their brains all over the interstate, well there probably isn't a whole hell of a lot I can do to stop them, but you damn well better not endanger me or my family in the process, asshole.

5. If I were by myself, I honestly would have been tempted.
But I had my daughter with me, so no way, no how was I even going to think about it. I wanted to get as far away from that idiotic asshole as I possibly could.

GRRRRRRRRRRR. Wish I had his license plate number. That's GOT to be illegal.

6. You should have stepped on the your brakes...
The guy obviously wanted a thrill.

Before anybody gets upset with me, I am a motorcyclist and a former racer. I just find this sort of thing totally aggravating.

I had a guy on a motorcycle cut in front of me the other day. There was barely enough room; I nearly hit him. Maybe I should have; I was only going about 25, the light had just changed. He never looked back. I honked the hirn and flipped him off but he never looked back. To be fair though, I have people in cars do this same thing, change lanes without even checking the blind spot. GRRRRR.
I saw a guy in a big pickup truck turn right into a driveway of a restaurant from the LEFT lane. He nearly hit a guy on a motorcycle. The truck driver probably didn't see him beacause it was one of those F350 monstrosities. Stupid redneck.

8. It is sad that a 16 year old can walk in........
to a motercycle dealer, never having ridden and buy a bike that if was a car, the NHRA would make you pass a test for a license to race.

WTF is up with the dealers? Between them and other youths, all the newbies think they "need" a bike with this much speed/power to start on.

Pisses me off, as every ass clown like that ends up making my insurance rates on my bike higher.

when he finds himself paralyzed from the neck down because he is a fucking idiot.
I know a guy who died on a motorcycle last weekend. he wasn't a good friend or anything, but I knew him.
A motorcycle is not a fucking toy

11. I have seen a guy get into a horrific motorcycle accident.
Last summer, we were driving south through Colorado and were in the middle of Denver on the interstate. LOTS of traffic and construction going on, too (narrow lanes, no shoulders).

This guy on a motorcycle was in the far right lane, but he brushed up against the right wall (remember no shoulder) and he lost control slightly.

He overcorrected, which caused him to hit the wall even harder than the first time, causing him to completely lose control.

He flew off the bike and went UNDER the wheels of an oncoming box truck.

I saw it all. I was driving. My friend was in the front seat and grabbed a plastic grocery sack and vomited into it.

I just kept my hands on the wheel (sweaty hands) and my eyes on the road and got the fuck out of Denver. I'll never get that visual out of my head as long as I live. I wanted to cry. I can't imagine him living through that.

15. last weekend
this guy I know, a musician named Paul, was riding his motorcycle in Crownsville, a rural-ish area outside Annapolis, Maryland. He was going too fast down a back road and when he turned he flew into the wrong lane and right into the front of an oncoming truck.
He died instantly.

That accident you saw sounds absolutely horrific. I once saw a car literally exploding on the Baltimore beltway. It was on the outer loop of the beltway, and I was on the inner. As I passed the flaming wreck, the heat was so intense even several lanes away that it singed my facial hair. It must have just happened, because there were no emergency vehicles or roadblocks. I have never seen anything like that.

19. I went past an accident on LBJ freeway in Dallas (I-635)
once a few years ago that had just happened and I saw a man's forearm that still had his plaid flannel long-sleeved shirt sleeve on it. It was just lying in the road near his smashed up blue car.

Nothing makes me sick (except food poisoning) but I had to pull over and puke.

Then I cried all the way to work. Sometimes life is so scary. He was probably just going to work.

Damn, I need to stop posting this stuff. Already feeling morbid today.

10. There was a guy a few years ago who has the land speed record on
LAKE SHORE DRIVE in downtown Chicago. He had his motorcycle going (I think clocked) at over 180 mph. He had every cop in the downtown area chasing him. The only way they caught him was he pulled over and waited for them to catch up. By the way, this is not an interstate!

16. I wish I had thought of it.
I can't remember the last time I was so pissed off, but I had already driven from Austin back to Dallas today and long periods of driving make me pissy anyway.

So all I could do was LOUDLY bitch about him while trying to get the hell away from him.

I hope someone saw him doing that and called. Fucker.

20. exhibition of acceleration
You should have called in on the twit. It's illegal and if he doesn't carry the extra insurance he should have had a helmet on, too. Texas has a weird helmet law where if you don't carry an additional 10K in insurance on yourself you have to wear a helmet.
