anyone tried the Fighting Fish (Betta) planter?
Here is a link to this project:

http://www.bfranklincrafts.com/CraftIdea-Beta.html

It was recommended to me by someone elsewhere on the internet. A lady needs a caretaker for some Betta, and I said I would take one or two. Is this a good way to keep them? My understanding is that they are territorial and prefer to be single fish, and that you would never put them together. Any suggestions or tips?

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

1. It's great. I've made 4 of them and kept one for myself
Ideally, a single betta only.

2. Bettas are great fish.
Easy to care for, VERY clean, and yes - NEVER put two of them together in the same bowl. Just make sure they have a space to come up to the surface for air - bettas sometimes like to "gasp" air.

4. Don't put 2 beta in bowls next to eachother...
We had some like that for a little while- one knocked itself unconscious against the side of the bowl. It was trying to fight with the other fish.

5. thanks everybody!
You set my mind at ease.

If I do take two of the Bettas, I'll be sure the bowls are where they cannot see each other.

7. Oh, yeah! One thing to give your fishy fish something to do:
get a stand-up mirror, like you'd find at the drug store, and put it where the fish can see itself. He'll "fight" with his reflection every now and then. Fun to watch.

6. They're very nice. Remember to change the water now & then
and don't overfeed. Fish are like dogs. They'll just keep eating. Have fun!
