One of the coolest things about going to Canada...
which I'll be doing this weekend...:-)

Is going to an ATM up there, and getting some of their lovely, colorful currency. It's so darned attractive that I almost hate spending it.

1. I kept a new $20 and some coins from my last trip.
The other cool part is withdrawing $20, and having only $15 deducted from your account. ;-)

4. Well, that's certainly cool, also. :-)
My understanding about the $1 and $2 coins in Canada is that the paper money was simply taken out of circulation and the coins put in its place. There were no choices involved. Which is what we should have done down here.

5. Exactly.
I thought I was broke one morning until I actually counted up my coins and found I had almost $7! Enough money for breakfast at Tim Horton's! :9

11. or when you buy a pack of gum, give them $5 US, and get back $5 Cdn
... and your gum.

Feast your eyes on our fabulous 2-tone coins! Just like an Elvis medallion from the Franklin Mint! (We also released a special issue 25-cent piece with red on it, but I've heard that the red wears off over time.)

8. Cuban cigars !
Even if you don't smoke, get yourself a nice fat Romeo y Julieta and start! Just look out for the tourist traps near the border.
