Nobody's badder than a guy who pimps little girls.

How can you even have Mr. White on this list? Mr. White was the voice of reasoned morality! Everyone else in that movie was of thir fucking rockers.

7. The single tit shot redeemed that movie,
totally, but I was only 13 at the time.

11. I would agree, normally, but...

Lloyd Bridges' bare ass cancels out any tit shot.

5. No, but he had (an admittedly screwed-up) sense of ehics.
He defended Orange. Everyone else in that movie was completely amoral. Even K-Billy.

6. They're all good....
...Its like saying, "how long is a piece of string?" I don't know, it depends on how long it is?...

Also like his role in Holy Smoke.

9. The Bad Lieutenant
was bad...and not bad as in good.

That one scene of him naked, groaning and wailing in his apartment was pretty gross. For me it was a huge turn-off. :puke:

10. He was SO unsympathetic in that role.
He was unlikable and an absolute asshole. I didn't like the character at all--and THAT is why it was so well done.

Any movie that you walk out of feeling like you've been dipped in slime should make you go, "Hmmm, those actors and that director did a REALLY good job of making me dislike them."

Blue Velvet was the same way for me. So was The Deerhunter. Several of Tarantino's films do that--They make you realize there IS a nasty ugly underbelly out there.

Harvey kicked ASS as a corrupt cop who was in WAY over his head. I loved hating him in that film!

12. Yeah, I agree.
But I wish I'd never seen that one scene I mentioned above. I've never been able to look at Harvey Keitel the same way after that.

13. But....
....in the end, he basically made an attempt at redemption by throwing those kids out of New York. He knew that the nun had truly forgiven them, and that their only escape fom either death or a prison system which would have turned them into worse criminals was if he gave them his "bailout money" to start a new life (for wht that's worth).

In a sense, giving that money to them ensured he would die...for their sins.

14. Did you like him up to that point?
I didn't. He was just disgusting--an utter PIG. That scene of him grunting away in the apartment was just super for making that point, I thought. You were not supposed to like him and you were supposed to see him as the flawed human that he was. THAT is what made his final act so much of a gift to those kids.

All in all, it was a well done movie--even the script!

16. I'd give him an honorable mention for "Copland"
Expectations were WAY too high for that film: Keitel, DeNiro, Stallone, Liotta...it's a lot better than some people would have you believe. No, it's not "Godfather" or "Goodfellas"...but it's still a rock-solid pic.

It's Keitel's consistency in this one that draws you in...his character just been corrupt for so long that it's second-nature. He's convinced that he's one of the good guys and anything goes.

I also thought "Blue In The Face" was a low-key masterpiece. It not only has some fine tongue-in-cheek improv from Keitel, it's got LOU REED too.
