Mr GoG was robbed at gunpoint tonight
right in front of our effing house!

Fortunately, he wasn't hurt; and while the robber took his keys, Mr GoG pleaded with him not to take his guitar, and he didn't. And the doofus couldn't figure out how to start the car anyway. When the police came, my husband disconnected something or other so the guy couldn't come back later to try again.

The creepy thing is, he's got our house keys. Right now we've got a long 2x4 wedged up against the front door, which ought to deter him a little at least, if he tries to come back. :scared:

5. I've been better...
My car broke down today, too; and I missed a rehearsal as a result. I'm trying to comfort myself with the fact that I could have been doing 65mph when my V-belt snapped.

But I'm ok, Mr GoG's ok, the kids are ok. We could've had things a lot worse!

11. Thanks for the hug!
I'm just glad the guy didn't come in the house and mess with my kids. My 17 y/o is hot-headed, and would have ended up in the hospital.

That's scary. I can't believe he didn't take the guitar. I guess you will be changing all the lock cylinders later today.

7. Mr GoG couldn't believe it either
It was his most expensive axe...about $5000. He said the guy held the gun about a foot away from his head. I would've peed then and there.

15. Amen to that!
This is normally a quiet neighborhood. It's hard to imagine that some guy would just be walking along our street waiting to find someone to rob. He must have been watching our block for awhile, and taking note of what time people come home.

I'm going to warn my neighbors tomorrow.

23. Just consider yourselves LUCKY...
...That he wasn't interested in using your HOUSEKEY.

The 2nd Amendment is there for a reason: Because the RIGHT to defend your life is the most BASIC right of all.

Yes, most 'muggers' have addiction issues...that's why they rob PEOPLE for a few dollars after dark, instead of SAFELY robbing a BANK for a few THOUSAND in the afternoon.

But SOME criminals these days don't care about $$$. That's why I have a firearm in my home.

If someone wants to take what I have, fine...I give it to them. I have before, and I probably will again.
KARMA will do more to them than I ever could.

But if they actually THREATEN someone, ANYONE, then I ain't waiting for KARMA...

I was 'mugged' once, when I lived in Baltimore, by some skinny kid who looked to be about 14...

In order to distract him, I pulled all my money ouy of my left-front pocket, while I slid my RIGHT hand back under my shirt to the .45 calibre handgun I carried....

And I looked at the dull steaknife in his hand, and the 3 crumpled dollar bills in MY hand, mixed with a half-pound of nickels and pennies...and I thought about the .45 Auto on my hip, full of High-Velocity hollowpoints....

And I said "go with God", And dropped my big $5 handfull at his feet and walked 20 feet away to the end of the rail station.

He was just some dumb KID, and he only wanted my money. Let him have it; money is just IMAGINARY anyway.

I don't think this has anything to do with your post; you just brought out a few OLD memories in me!

Thank you for your time!

PS: I hope this doesn't turn you against Baltimore...cuz it's the BEST place to get REAL Guinness in the entire USA!

BERTHA's if you wanna feel like a tourist... the Cat's Eye if you wanna just mind your own damn bizness!!

Sincerely,
Richard

That is absolutely insane. Glad to hear no one was hurt.

I'm not sure what you feel about guns, but I'd consider buying one.

That and of course changing the locks (obviously).

This happened to be at a place I worked when I was 18. Kind of scary. Probably post-traumatic stressed me a bit at the time I suspect. Take care of yourselves.

We're both just really tired after running around taking care of locks and not getting much sleep last night. I told the neighbors about it this morning, so we'll all be on the alert.

Thank the gods (or whom or whatever) he and your family are OK! I have seen a few of your posts and you seem like a very caring person, so I know you will take care of Mr. GoG, as he has suffered a trauma. Everyone deals with it in a different way. Take care of yourself as well. This is a blow to your whole family!

Be well!

27. If you don't have a dog
...get a BEWARE OF DOG sign, and then, if you like, get a dog. The sign in and of itself is a deterrent--who knows what rottweiller or doberman lurks behind that door?

The new locks are a good idea, too. Good time to do a walk-around of your house and check doors, windows and so on. And your idea to warn the neighbors is spot-on.

37. Dog Sixth Sense, maybe?
I swear, they can smell tension a mile away--he may have figured it would make matters worse.

At any rate, I am glad that it didn't end up worse than a massive fright, and I hope you were able to get those locks changed and warn the neighbors.

Stay safe!
