I finally bought a sofa!
After a year of searching, I finally found the perfect sofa! It was on sale, too:).

After dealing with my cheap IKEA sofa for so long, I want to destroy it! I will probably put an ad for it in my basement and give the thing away.

5. Wish I could buy a new sofa
well, I could but my two dogs own my present couch, no way I am buying a new couch to have my two seniors lounge on it. Guess I'll keep the one I have and we all can be comfortable.

That's so pretty... I just had to throw out my old one after it got completely trashed by my two small (yet surprisingly destructive) children. I bought it new 10 years ago and loved it so...

Now I've got a hand-me-down that's older than I am. And it's fugly, too... orange/brown plaid! :o

7. It Is A Bit Of A Revelation To Me That People BUY Sofas...
Edited on Tue Apr-05-05 05:45 PM by DistressedAmerican
I thought that there were a finite number and all of them end up in my living room in their turn. Never spent a dime.

10. Depends Where You Live.
I Used to live in the midwest. It was couch there. Now I live in the Northeast. People look at my like a freak if I use the word.

Same with 'pop' and 'soda'.

Us anthropologists call that linguistic diversity.

22. We've always called them couches
and I was born and raised in Boston. On the other hand, most people in Calif. call them sofas.

On the other hand, how many people call a living room the parlor?

12. A store called INTAGLIA
www.intagliahome.com

Now I have a case of "the guilts" because my next paycheck will go to the sofa. It has been so long since I have treated myself though...I was unemployed for a long time and have had a stressful few years. I am going back to school in the fall to study design, so I guess I can say finally finishing my apartment is an assignment.

How much is shipping for a couch? BTW, my daughter is a senior in interior design. Good luck with your studies!

13. I am really a minimalist, but...
Maybe a throw pillow, but no the ones that came with it. The colors of the apartment are going to be gray and chocolate brown, so something brown and velvety perhaps....

14. have you checked out dwell?
www.dwell.com (I think). They have nice modern pillows that may fit what you're looking for, some that are geometrically shaped. Check the sale section.

15. Thanks!
That site is new to me. I will look around. The sale section is always the first place I go:). After I recover from buying the sofa, I am getting some things from West Elm. I love their stuff as well. www.westelm.com

17. oh yes, I meant West Elm
Dwell is mainly linens. I confused the two. Though on second thought dwell does do some very nice pillows.

18. I like the linens!
I found some pillows there and bookmarked it so I know where to go when I decorate my bedroom. I found another store several months ago which is really eclectic as well.

23. You need to add a pop of color to it all
maybe a deep red or rose color. You can't go all neutrals.
