That's it, the miserable fucks at work are gonna get it!
Edited on Fri Jul-18-03 09:17 PM by HEyHEY
That's it, it's high noon on Monday. And I ain't taking any shit! Today at work I was watering the base of a certain kind of tree, to water it you have to lie down and shove your arms right into it. My boss drives by and sees me and gives me shit for lying down, I try to explain myself but she wouldn't listen, basically calls me a liar. Then at the end of the day my boss's boss. Gets me in her office and talks to me about it. I try to explain my case and she won't listen either. Then she says on Monday she wants to talk with my boss, me, and another employee ( I know who it is he is fed up too). I've fucking had it. In three years, I have never ever been pulled aside and talked to about anything. Now I make one mistake which I didn't even MAKE and the hammer comes down. There is a whole slew of worthless people working there who get away with murder because they are the boss's friend (this is for real). I said fuck this, on Monday I will arrive armed with an entire breifcase of incidents to expose the incompetence of my fellow workers and my boss. I don't just mean incompetence either I mean things like, driving around all day, taking extra breaks, and smoking on the job. I do not engage in ANY of these.

And if they still feed me shit and so forth and don't take my concerns seriously. I am quitting on the spot.

After that I am going to the city Administrator to expose all the same things plus the MAJOR shortcomings of my boss's boss. Of which there are many. Our department is in shambles right now thanks to their fucking it up with their secret little back scratching club. I'll see to it they all go down.

I've fucking had it... nobody fucks with HEyHEY, and I mean it.

3. Aren't you a city landscaper???
Doesn't that imply physical labor, and that you may have to get on your back or tummy to do some of your job requirements?

This is fucking ridiculous. Do you feel it is in any way political because of your political leanings?

I wish you the best...have enjoyed lots of your plant-related posts, if you are the person I am thinking about.

Have a good weekend in spite of it. And do whatever you need to to protect yourself.

Hugs, heyhey.

4. well, Hey
may i call you Hey? anyway, you have a day or two to plan your strategy, which is also a day or two to cool off about it and prepare yourself to take them on.

I'd ask for a demonstration with a neutral party to observe what you were supposedly doing 'wrong'. Ask for someone from Human Resources Dept to be there to make sure you are being treated fairly, and to judge if the acccusation has merit.
I don't know if i would go in there with counter-accusations about others misdeeds. You may want to save those for later.

just my opinion. good luck to you all the same.
These are trying times.

Edited on Fri Jul-18-03 09:11 PM by HEyHEY
Well see the other thing is that the guy I work with has a temper and really, although he is a great worker, is not a people person (or at least the kind of people we work with), in fact I am the only one he likes. So they group us together. He has been a bit flustered latley with all the bullshit and his work has suffered, they bitched him out the other day, (of course the bosses useles pal doesn't get shit, wanna know how useless? Is a gardener, and can't even start a BLOWER!)

So it will be him, and me shit runs downhill eh? I'll quit, I just finished college a couple months ago and have an education to fall back on. I was going to quit at the end of the summer anyway, I just worry about my buddy. I figure I may take them down, then take the fall...What do I care?

Strongest union in Canada, just the worst bosses. I may end up talking to the local president about it, if I quit. I really don't want to work there anymore and am thinking of quitting on monday either way now.

12. Take a Union Steward To Your Meeting
No shit. Refuse to attend unless a rep is present if possible (I have that right in the US, but have no idea if Canadians do). Absolutely positively DO NOT let management have any sort of talk with you and your buddy without the union there. Be sure to file a grievance no matter what the outcome. Trust me on this!

13. HEyHEY can I join your rant against coworkers tonight?
I work in IT and I'm sick of a couple of my coworkers. I'm in a really foul mood as well though I'm going to have to drop it for now and just try to hang in at my age and in this damn job market.

We had a frame-relay project with voiceover. Of course they put a non-techie manager in charge of the project and the salesguy sold the non-techie a 128k line instead of a 256k line even though the saleguy highlighted a line from our software supplier that they recommended a minimum 256k line to run this app. Do I get that email? NO. I only found the smoking gun accidentally. And guess who's catching all the grief that the app runs slow!

Oh and get this, they asked me to give up my Memorial Day off, drive 150 miles to a location, and stay the night so there wouldn't be a possibility the married guy with kids to pick up would have to stay a few extra minutes in case of problems after 5. Needless to say I said a big NO to that. And he didn't have to stay though I never got lunch.

Then today I'm down in the warehouse fixing some malfunctioning bar code equipment on a conference call with our supplier and the manufacturer's support guy on the only phone that the company allows long-distance dialing in that location and the manager who's desk I was using goes ballistic on me when I couldn't get his phone to transfer the call to another desk so he could use his desk. It was his darn equipment I was fixing for his warehouse guys - and this guy I thought was a friend. I never saw anyone at work go so over the top. I thought I was going to have to physically fight him or that he was going to have a stroke or a heart-attack. He told me to get out of his office. I refused to go till I fixed the problem. And do I get an apology even though I apologized. NO! If this ever happens again I am going straight to management though I expect nothing would be done or heck I might even hear about it in my useless performance review.

In IT I get tired of always being the bad guy when I know the user like the Bush administration lies on how that file just happened to disappear or how that piece of equipment looks like you ran it over with a fork or why something doesn't work right when it was you who went the cheapest route.

15. See if you can find...
some kind of gardening book that covers that kind of tree, and says that in order to water it you have to be on the ground.

When in doubt, offer proof that you were right.

Good luck with it...

17. DO NOTQuit!
Repeating, DO NOT Quit your job. Get in touch this weekend with your union rep. See if you are entitled to union representation at this meeting. If you're allowed to have a rep with you, take him/her. Do not go to the meeting alone. Have supporting documentation for your position re: requirements for watering the plant.

Wait for a future date to bring up the misdeeds of others. Unless you've got crimes documented on video, the chances of your "bringing them all down" are probably slim. Those who are entrenched in the government beauracracy tend to know whose butt to kiss to stay in power. Keep that as your ace in the hole.

Do not quit - make them fire you so you can collect unemployment. And if you get any sort of disciplinary action, file a grievance and go through each step. And at this meeting, ask them point blank if they are calling you a liar. People are sometimes reluctant to actually say this, even if they secretly believe it. Good Luck.

19. Organization is the key, it starts today!
Well, that was a lot of good advice. I spoke to the other employee today, we are going to meet up and dicuss this. He is a little more subserviant than myself because this job is really all he has. So, because he is also a good friend, I have to ensure that I don't fuck him over by accident. I am wondering if they will talk to us together, or speak to us one on one. Managment will probably try the divide and conquer method.

Either way, I will have my revenge if they don't listen to me. I mean, when I was trying to explain to the head boss, her phone rang and she dropped everything and answered it, then told me we'll talk on Monday. What the FUCK is that?

Now here is the real bomb, I didn't want to say it last night because of what some people may think. But my father was just elected to council. (I had the job for two years before he was elected so calm down.) My dad would never dream of nepitism or using his influence for such a situation, and I wouldn't ask, in fact I still haven't told him about it. But they don't know that, and the other thing they don't know is that they are currently on thin ice. So, one detailed report to the city Administrator. And their world can come crashing down. It won't be hard to do with qoutes like, "Just because you are a hard worker doesn't mean you will stay on the longest this year, I will take the person who is nicest to be around."

What a way to run things! I can't wait. I'm probably being too vicous, but it has always been my nature in such situations. I don't know if it is a good or bad trait. Either way, Monday is coming!

Thanks guys for your advice and support!

I just have to say it, I mentioned the old man's a city councillor.

Well I finally had a talk with him on this. And he let it slip that it doesn't matter cause the big boss is getting fired in two months anyway.

Now, this has nothing to do with me, it is a decision made awhile back. But now during my meeting on Monday, I will just sit back and smile. ;-) :-)

I can't explain how great this feels.

I quite my job of 5 years last December and it was so fun. I had started the job at the end of my sophomore year of High school and since I went to college about an hour from home I went back whenever they really needed me.
The business was owned by a husband and wife team, and the husband was a pretty cool guy and he realized how valuable an employee I was and I ended up making a pretty good salary. The wife was one of those manic depressive people that just drives you crazy, and for some reason she started to really hate me, and she was always bitching about how I was too expensive etc...
So anyway one in December I had my finals coming up and the wife asked me to work the whole weekend, and I told her no way my education is the priority. Then she begged me just to work the friday, so I said ok. Come friday when I get there she has me scheduled for the whole weekend. I point this out to her and she starts to yell about how I’m on the schedule so I have to work, and I should have said something sooner. It was one of those moments where you realize that the person you are talking to isn’t rational and that there is no reason that you should be yelled at.
I got my coat and told her to have a nice life and I was on my way. I have to say I got a nice high off of it for a couple days, just a really pleasurable feeling of personal power. Anyway that is my story, I hope you have fun on monday, give the sob’s what they have been asking for.
