Poll question: Do you believe George Lucas will release the original Star Wars Trilogy in
their ORIGINAL prints, not the rehashed special molested editions?

1. Nope...not only does he not care what the fans want...
...he's going to be too busy working on the next ReRelease....of all six films, this time in 3-D. This is supposedly set for 2007.

Bas-TARD! I don't want them in 3-D. I want the films I saw in the theaters starting in 1977! :grr:

His artistic vision has become artistic tunnel vision.

2. He seems nutty
and somewhat obsessed with the original films.

I don't mind that he cleaned up the quality of the prints (some might disagree here), but wtf did he do with these DVD editions? I don't even want to buy them because of inserting Christian fuckin Hadenson for Darth Vader at the end among other things (don't forget Han Solo can't shoot first)!

And Sorry George, the computer animated shockwaves and other nifty things you threw in there look extremely out of place ...

Lucas never seemed to realize that computer animation is best used as a force to drive the storyline - and not the storyline itself! Bring back the rubbery Yoda...the one that actually looked organic.

3. Yeah...I think he's going off the deep end. His next 'new film' projects
are going to be fairly outlandish, as he says himself he's going to become a failure. A private joke, to be sure, but he's talking about making films like THX and such, personal films that not everyone will get or pay to see, and that may even bomb. He doesn't care. He's got enough money he can make the films he wants.

And we paid him so he could do that. He gets no more of my money.

I have a similar bone to pick with the Indiana Jones trilogy. I cannot get Only the first film on DVD, even though it's the only one I want; I'd have to buy the box set and get two films I don't care that much for. Don't get me wrong; I like the third one, but I Loathe the Second. I just want to buy the One Film...and I can't. :grr:

4. ebay for Indy?
Just a thought.

Being a fan of both THX and American Grafitti and every Star Wars movie I am quite interested to see what he will do next. Maybe besides putting up the money for his own "failures" he will put up some money for first time filmmakers to have a chance.

A brother can dream, can't he?

6. Buying DVDs or Laserdiscs off of ebay is RISKY.
I bought the THX Star Wars discs and they were claimed "very good" condition. Of the 4 discs, only 1 side had severe scratches but thanks to what I'm guessing is disc rot as the other discs look normal, both movies have playback problems.

14. About the Indiana Jones films...right now you may be able to buy them
only in a pack but that was true of the Godfather series as well. Since those who were going to buy the trilogy in a pack have already done so, the studio is now releasing the Godfather series in single movies. I suspect that the studio who owns the IJ films will do the same thing eventually. They want money and will do anything to get it.

5. I liked the original Ewok song ending to Jedi
The new celebration scene was sort of hokey to me.

I liked the yub-yub song!!

9. Yeah, I forgot that changed as well!
What is up with that??

I can't wait for the new movie.

Maybe it is getting time for me to sell all my old Star Wars stuff!

8. I'm not sure...
...but if you've got the old VHS copies, hang on to them just in case. If I can find mine, that's what I'm gonna do. Don't eBay them.

10. It's not about making the best movies, it's more about proving a point
Guy is a serious control freak, and the more people hate his movies, the more he will refuse to admit that the abuse gets to him and influences his decisions.

11. Which means he'll make episodes VII - IX even though he said he won't
:scared:

Life after Darth. Too ghastly to contemplate unless the aftermath of peak oil is involved.

12. I honestly enjoy the new films
They aren't anywhere NEAR as good as the original three (particularly the first two), but they are pretty entertaining, so long as you zone out the bad acting/dialogue and silly council scenes. Too bad there's no Harrison Ford around to say "no time to discuss this in a committee." If you focus too much on how they are raping the legacy of the previous films, they can be depressing, but I'll watch 'em if he makes 'em.

17. Nah...he'll never make 'em now.
He's said too many that he wrapped up the plot line in Episode VI.

Plus...he's now going to start making b.s. movies to amuse himself.
