Friggin wasp sting.
So I got stung by a wasp last weekend helping a friend put sod down in his yard. It was my first sting ever and I thought I handled it pretty well. It hurt and yeah it kind of sucked but I put a little neosporin on it and got back to work.

Here it is a week later and all of a sudden the stupid thing starts itching and itching. It's not swollen and it's pretty much just a dot at this point ....but I gotta tell ya.. this thing is itching to the point of madness. WTF a *WEEK* later ... I think it should be done with its antics by now. I don't get this itching.

1. They do that on me, too.
Just when I've forgotten about the sting it starts itching like mad. Try some benadryl topical cream, it helps. :)

3. I would have screamed and cried like a small child
and expect babying for the rest of the day. I'd probably want ice cream as well.

Just so you have something for comparision - you're a trooper.

8. Thanks. I like adding seemingly unnecessary details like the reaction
sentences- because I think it enhances the story for the reader. But I do appreciate the comparison... nice to know I have options in my reactions should it happen again. Especially the bit about ice cream... had I'd known that was an option I would have gone that route. :D

5. Did you get the stinger out?
That could be the reason for the itching.

I'm allergic and was stung on my ring finger on my left hand. Had to get my wedding ring cut off (was hysterical at the jewelers). My whole hand swelled up and I about passed out.

Topical Benadryl get is awesome - it dries in a coat so it keeps working.

6. It was a wasp. I don't think
they leave stingers.

What a bummer about your wedding band. :(

14. Jeweler repaired it and it's perfect
Now he and my husband laugh at me (old superstition about never breaking the circle - never breaking the love)

I say it now needs more stones to fix what was broken

7. Wasps and Hornets
SUCK. At least bees make honey. But I don't like honey, so I hate them all.

10. Yeah buddy!
I'm scared to swat at them barehanded though. I always grab a weapon.

11. That's smart ...cause that's how it got me.
It flew into my bangs and I did that little "there's a bee on me dance" and started swatting... that's when he got me on the back of my hand. He STARTED it!

Next time I'll be ready... I've got my eye out for him.

12. Benedryl might help
and a topical anti-itch cream could help as well. I usually get multiple stings (landscaper) They are a bitch though, those stings.

13. Thanks. I'll try the benadryl.
Cortaid's been worthless. It's not a big deal- I just can't seem to stop scratching it... which is actually creating more of a problem than I started with.
