Eight shot at Dallas nightclub

Eight people were hospitalized early Monday after shots rang out at a nightclub in southeast Dallas.

Police said the violence erupted after proprietors of the Country Cowboy club in the 9000 block of Bruton Road told patrons to go home.

"Apparently, something happened in the club that caused the owner to close the club," said Dallas police Sgt. Lawrence Nichols. "Apparently, the suspects were angered over having to leave the club early, and retaliated." Nichols said someone in the parking lot fired a shot; when that gunfire was returned a melee ensued.

None of the injuries was said to be life-threatening. The victims included both men and women. The two gunmen remained at large. One person was arrested at the scene for interfering with a police investigation.

I was sorta dating this girl who told me to meet her and her cousins there. I was searched for weapons when I got there. I danced with her to one song and three different scary looking dudes came up to her and asked if I was "bothering" her. I made myself scarce after that.

The relationship didn't last.

Look, in DC if there is a club shooting, there is a 98 percent chance that it took place at a "Go-Go" bar. "Go-go" is a local brand of music that's never really gone national and for some reason, a lot of the clubs are plagued by violence.

I don't know if the shooters are white, black, brown or green. But after a while, you get a sense of this stuff. In DC, murder is the lead story five nights a week. You develop a feel.

If there's a shooting in a club where a whole of people get shoot, it's probably an r&b, latin, or rap club. For some reason, the violence in those clubs is a lot more indiscriminate when it's inside. Outside, it's usually a set-up on one person.

If someone gets shot in the parking lot during club hours...well...that's more a C&W bar. Fights inside those bars don't seem to result in many deaths. But once it gets outside, anything can happen.

If someone gets shot in the parking lot after hours, it's a rap club.

And if someone gets their arms cut off with a machete, that's a Central American gang. (Has happened twice in the Northern VA this year).

I am sorry, your comment was probably just an off-hand remark and not serious BUT BUT BUT....

Texas is NOT a red state per se.

The GOP has held onto Texas by illegal gerrymandering where they had to use the Dept. of Homeland Security to track down state legislators and threats to get the newest redistricting plan passed.

Look at Delay and how utterly corrupt he is. THAT is a large reason why Texas is red.

Also, this notion of segregating America into a false dichotomy of Red/Blue and the whole unnecessarily divisive crap gets my blood up.

12. Here's my bar shooting (resulted in death) story.

The DJ was an idiot. He had a big gun with a laser site on it, and he was shining the laser on people on the dance floor "just for goofs."

A guy walked onto the dance floor, saw the laser on his chest, and pulled a gun and shot the DJ in the chest. Killed him. Deader than a door nail.

There should be an idiocy test for people BEFORE they are allowed to own guns. Sadly, this DJ's idiocy test happened after he purchased his. And he failed.
