ct house of rep's to vote on civil unions bill today
Edited on Wed Apr-13-05 10:04 AM by cassandra uprising
a bill that would legalize civil unions in ct is on the go list of bills to be voted on by the ct house of representatives today.

http://www.cga.ct.gov

the session will begin at 1:00 p.m. they will likely debate for quite a few hours (i've been hearing 7 hours) before the house will take a vote. the bill passed the ct senate last week (27/9) and the bill will likely pass in the house with a strong majority.

gov rell (as far as i know) has said that she supports civil unions, but she has yet to make a public statement on whether or not she will sign the bill.

i will not be able to post again until this evening. i will update all information as soon as i possibly can.

edit: the link was dead, this new link should work, you can navigate all bill info from this site.

2. No hint from the governor whatsoever?
If she supports civil unions, I can't imagine her not signing this bill.

6. Governor wants assurances from AG that it will not allow marriage
At least that is what I heard on WTIC radio this morning. She wants Democratic AG Dick Blumenthal (a likely candidate for governor next year?) to assure her that this law does not allow same sex marriage, and if it does, she wants an amendment to say that marriage is a man & a woman.
