My poor baby is sick.
We were going to leave tomorrow morning for vacation. When I went to get my toddler son up this morning, he wasn't standing up in his crib cheerfully facing the day as usual. In fact, he didn't even get up when I held my arms out to get him. As soon as I picked him up... :puke: All over both of us, and running a fever to boot.

So, reservations have been canceled. My poor little guy has done nothing but lie in my lap all day. I wish I could be sick in his place :( He seems to be perking up a little bit, now. But, he's obviously so miserable.

11. Thanks
We may be able to salvage the last couple of days. We'll see how he's doing. It wasn't a big trip, just a drive out east to meet my sister and her 2 year old.

3. I'm sorry. I always hated when that happened.
I've spent quite a few days sitting with a sick baby. There's nothing else to do, after following medical advice, of course. You are doing the right thing by staying home.

4. "vomiting and diarrhea"
My wife will soon be coming off a rotation at a pediatric emergency room... when I ask how her day was, she starts chanting "vomiting and diarrhea, vomiting and diarrhea, vomiting and diarrhea".

Apparently this is a common complaint (don't have any kids yet, so it's all news to me).

I hope your little one is better soon... at least he seems to be in pretty good company.

5. That truly sucks!!
I had the same problem last year.

Made train reservations for ride from Boston to Orlando for a week of fun n sun with the wife and kids.

The night before we leave my oldest (7 at the time) came down with a 24 hour bug. Cancel the train. Well, we still have a day in hand so we'll see how she is and maybe fly down. She's ok the next day so we all fly down. Happy Ending?

Hell no.

First night, I come down with some intestinal thing. We lose the first day and a half, but spend some quality time at the resort pools.

We finally make it to Disney Animal Kingdom on our first healthy day. By the afternoon the kids are wilting in the heat. Understandable. Get back to the hotel and my youngest (3) gets sick. She spends the rest of the week in the hotel with my wife and I taking alternate trips with our oldest. Hotel doctor visit $150.00. Yippee.

Be a long time before I make any long-range vacation plans with wife and kids again.

10. It's like the little bugs know, somehow.
I remember getting the chicken pox right before the big family vacation to Disney World.

Luckily we were driving, so all we had to do was cancel the hotel. We were meeting my sister and her little girl. The hardest thing to deal with is my 4 year old's disappointment. I don't think I'll ever let him know our plans ahead of time, again.

I was on day two of a four day trip when my three year old got sick with his daddy at home. He called me asking what to do, and i told him, and he ended up taking him to the doctor because he was so nervous. He was so scared about trying to take care of him that he called his mother over to help. I didn't cut my trip short as I couldn't get back anyway. He needed to learn what to do, though.

I hope your little Pithlet gets better real soon.

8. I've been home all day with a sick little boy too.
I had all this work to do, but I had to change gears this morning when he wouldn't eat his breakfast. With this guy, you KNOW he's not right if he won't eat. He'd been coughing all night and vomited too.

No preschool today... I caught up on laundry though.

Mine won't eat either, and he's by far the big eater of my two. He can keep liquids down, thankfully.

I hope your little guy gets better soon.

21. Ahhhh those are terrible days
and worse nights. Poor little guy (also poor you). Try to grab a little sleep for yourself before he decides to feel better and keep you up all night.

My little boy (19) came home to vote last Tuesday and got sick so he stayed home the next day and I rubbed his back all day. They never grow up but I loved it.

22. Yep. This will be a short DU break.
He's been sleeping much of the day, so tonight ought to be fun.

I hope your son is doing better. They will never stop being our babies.

but I have it now. It gets me out of rehearsal tonight. Yes, they will always be our babies and I love that and actually, so do they at least for now. Just wait, he will lurk tonight, see this and then write me something about, "I am NOT a baby." HaHa

I hope you get over it, soon.

25. When my son was a toddler
(he's 8 now; looks 10 or 11), he would never cuddle or sit in my lap for long. It was squirm, squirm so he could get down and explore. One day he was just sitting there in my lap, and I was thinking, "Oh, this is so nice, gosh, how sweet..." Then, finally, Einstein that I am, I realized he was running a fever and was sitting quietly because he was sick. D'oh!

27. Poor little guy!
Can he take any fluids yet? The hardest thing is trying to keep them hydrated when their stomachs are upset like that.

Give him a  for me. Here are some healing cybervibes...

In fact, he hasn't thrown up since this morning, and even pepped up a little bit before bed time.

Thanks for the  and the vibes. They seem to be working :)
