I just discovered them last weekend. I've sort of heard of them, but their name never stuck fast in my consciousness. Then I noticed their new album last weekend on Rhapsody. Usually I like my music more nasty, noisy and raw. And it took me a while to figure out that I wasn't going to loathe every second of what I was listening to. It's more Paul McCartney than John Lennon of the late Beatles. It's the Squeeze side of the new wave. And they sing with Britishesque accents, even though they're from Athens, GA. In short, the type of band I really shouldn't like. But they also carry overtones of "Buildings and Food" era Talking Heads and even some Kenyan-sounding guitar pop. Interesting stuff.
