I just made a RW telemarketer hang up on me!

This guy from the Dove foundation just called me to ask about "family friendly" movies. He asked if I agreed that there should be more "family friendly" entertainment choices for children under sixteen.

I said, "Well, first you'd have to tell me what you mean by 'family friendly.' There are some people, for instance, who would say the cartoon Postcards for Buster was not family friendly when it portrayed a child with lesbian parents. I would consider that a great show for my kids to watch."

The telemarketer stammered for a minute, then said, "I--I'll call you back later at another time," and hung up!

Score one for me!

Furthermore, I bet my "vote" doesn't show up when they publish their results--which is why he made sure to interrupt the call, to prevent a valid result the organization doesn't want.

5. Some telemarketer called me today

They asked for the homeowner, when I told him we lived in an apartment, he said "God bless then" hung up. Sorry but that takes on new connotations in this day and age when somebody says "God bless". I immediately assume it is a fundamentalist Bush supporter.

7. if you watch the shopping channels

you will find increased references to 'going to church'. and callers who praise the hosts for being 'good christian' ( just heard one time ) .


hmmmm... somebody dropped a religious tract in the open door of my car in my driveway today. the car w/ the bumpersticker that says ' my conscience is clear. i voted for Kerry '

6. I had a call from the dove foundation a while back...

... the guy asked to speak to "the lady of the house."

I asked, "Which one?"

That simple question seemed to stump him, judging by the silence followed stammering on the other end of the line.
