He got two blocks away and pulled into the gas station to fill up. They pretended to fill it and wash the windshield while they called my grandpa to come get him.

my first husband did something similar as a child, while driving away from home, HIS father saw him pedalling down the road, stopped and asked him if he wanted a lift ( put car in back of truck) and took him home again!

Or one like it - a silver one. My brother convinced me that he could turn it into an airplane. I helped him build a propellor for the front and he did some other stuff. He was going to take the test flight and told me to turn the propellor and say "contact." I did that and nothing happened. He said I said contact wrong. I flipped the propellor and said conTACT! Didn't work. I tried all kinds of different ways of saying it and turning the propellor. Finally my brother yelled at me that I had ruined his car/plane and he stomped off.
