Maybe it's just because I was educated in the "liberal secular" north
Before I went to college here in NC, but I always thought that Allah, God, and Yahweh were the same divine being, but watching channels like Fox News, MSNBC, and with that moronic general saying that the Christian God is bigger than the Muslim God (who by the way is the same being I thought) it seems that some don't believe that to be the truth. I am a Catholic, so this isn't some ignorant atheist being confused. Am I wrong here, or are people like Ann Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, Boykin, and the rest simply retarded?

1. I think
that they are all different deities, but the concept is the same: there is one higher power.

all descendants of Abraham. There was a Time cover story on it last year, apparently it didn't take too well.

3. I read that
thought it was one of their better articles, and that is another reason why I've always believed that God, Yahweh, and Allah were one and the same, because each religion refers to the supreme divine being as the God of Abraham/Ibrahim. Ann Coulter refers to Allah as an idol in her (his) latest exhibition of how sHE manages to suffer from PMS without having the required hardware.

4. Allah is Arabic for God. Most languages have a word for God, in Spanish

it is Dios, in French, it is Dieu, in German, it is Gott

Reading the Koran and the Old and New Testaments is a terrific way to understand the progression of 3 versions of the Abrahamic OS

23. don't forget the Mithracists
the christoids practically stole their entire script- from virgin birth to crucifixion.
But mention it a christoid and they'll respond: "what's a Mithra?"

5. No, they're religously insane/willfully ignorant
They're apart of this movement to expand Israil by killing off all Arab muslims and sending the Jews "back home". Then there will be an invasion of Israil by the "christians" in which the Jews will get a choice; accept Jesus or die. After that they believe there will be blood up to horses gullet(about 4 ft.)because the Jews will keep there faith and be killed. Jesus when he see's the absolute slaughter in Israil he'll appear in the clouds and take them into heaven. I'm not making this up:scared:

9. that's not how it happens in the Bible
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 03:19 AM by Neo Progressive
not to sound like a religious prick but this is how the end times play out (minus the unimportant plagues and judgments):

- Russians attack Israel, but Israel is saved by God (Ezekial, Daniel)

- Sometime after, the Temple of Solomon (which was destroyed by the Romans, and now has some Muslim holy site sitting on top of it) is rebuilt somehow. (implied by Revelation) Also the Rapture occurrs, so all Christians are taken up to heaven to be with God.

- A leader comes onto the scene, of Roman blood, and impresses the entire world, essentially the Anti-Bush. He promises years of peace. (Revelation)

- The leader somehow assumes control of the world, and moves the capitol to Babylon (Iraq) and signs a 7 year pact with Israel (Revelation)

- The 7 year pact starts the period called the tribulation. About half way through the tribulation the leader, who is the Antichrist, is killed, but like Christ, is seemingly risen from the dead. This point is where Lucifer is cast out by Michael the Archangel, and indwells (posseses) the Antichrist.

- Stuff happens

- Seventh year of the period there is a holocaust on the Jews, where the Antichrist/Lucifer leads his men into Israel slaughtering Jews and Tribulation Saints (people who convert to Christianity during this period). Christ comes down from heaven and sends the Antichrist, False Prophet (his Dick Cheney), and those who aren't in his Book of Life to the pit of Sulfur and Fire. Lucifer is bound for 1000 years.

- 1000 years later Lucifer is free to roam the earth and gather an army for one last attempt at taking out Christ, Christ defeats Lucifer, and he joins his partners in the previous endeavor at domination.

It's four am, and I prolly left something important out.

10. One thing you forgot to mention
Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 05:26 AM by jsw_81
...is that it's all a myth. God, Allah, and all the other gods and goddesses (Zeus, Thor, Jupiter, Ganesha etc.) exist only in our imagination. If more people would understand this the world would be a much, much better place. If we want to live in heaven, we're going to have to build it here on earth while we're alive. No deity is EVER going to come out of the clouds and take us there.

19. I wouldn't consider it to be fundamentalist to be an athiest
It's one thing to say that there is a god and you *KNOW* it - in the face of absolutely ZERO evidence.

It's another to say that there isn't - in the face of ZERO evidence that proves you wrong.

26. WRONG!!!!!
The Christian, Jewish, and Muslim God are all the same God - the God of Abraham.

The only difference is in the PERCEPTION of that God: each faith has a different interpretation of God.

But at root, they all claim the God of Abraham, the God of Noah, the God of Moses, the God who created everything.

18. Thanks, Mary, for the clarification...
Judaism is the trunk of the tree, Christianity and Islam are the two main branches but all three spring from the belief in a supreme monotheistic deity, call it what you will.

21. Allah - Yaweh - God
are all the same being, entity, whatever you want to call him/her/it (there's no word I've found for my concept of the true nature of God).

That we small-minded humans continue to separate the them based on our imprecise language concepts must provide by turns, equal measures of amusement and anguish to the One.

IOW, God is quite outside our ability to define Him/Her.

Edited on Thu Oct-23-03 08:44 PM by ProudGerman
If the first rule is to make something beyond any kind of definition, it then becomes possible to make the concept immune to the charge of being ridiculous.

But in essence, you are exactly right. If it didn't cause so much death and destruction, I'd laugh myself insane giggling at those who argue incessantly all the while cheerleading for the same "team".
