beating the hell out of their dog they have chained to the swing set. Left out with no food or water to bark all day. I heard the dog quit barking and start yelping. I looked out the window and she either had some long club or fat stick BEATING HIM> I and just sick and shaking. I couldn't get out the door fast enough. Shes in the house and I have called the cops. They are sending someone up..... I think,

29. How awful
 Poor dog. I remember one time several years ago at my great-grandma's place a stray dog came around and they gave him food and a cousin tried petting the dog but he was obviously abused either emotionally or physically and took a while to warm up to us. He finally did after awhile and was very warm and loving. So sad how people are to animals sometimes like this.

3. I'd call the cops or 'animal protection'
Whatever the name it goes by in your area anyway. That's mistreatment of an animal.

7. Animal Control..
The problem with letting Animal Control handle calls like that.. is that 99 times out of 100, they won't respond on weekends..

At least where I live.. :-(

10. I'm glad you called the cops
It was the right thing to do. Maybe you should call Animal Control/Animal Welfare and definitely the SPCA, as well.

I know how shocking and hurtful it is too see someone mistreat an animal like that.

If no one helps or stops it - call the SPCA.

Khash.

15. Good luck Shesemsmom, I hope they save the dog
When I hear of an animal being beaten or chained with no food or water it infuriates me. I can't imagine why people get pets if they don't want to take care of them.

nothing gets me madder than cruelty to children or animals. Discipling your child or pet is one thing (it is your job to do it), but senseless torture is inexcusable.

17. Why do people like that have dogs?
I've always been puzzled about that. I knew a guy who had a dog - from the time she came home to the day she died, she was tied to a tree. She had a shitty little dog house and someone would go out and give her food and water once a day. :wtf: No playing, no petting, no interaction. Just a dog tied to a tree for ten years. It hurts to think about.

I met him when the dog was already old. I used to stop and talk to her and pet her - she was so starved for affection that she couldn't stop wiggling. She was, in spite of it all, a nice dog.

I cannot understand why people like that have a dog. It can't guard their property when it's tied like that - this dog was too far from the house to be an effective guard dog. No one plays with it. Why have it?

The cruelty that is inflicted on so many animals is painful to even think about.

25. I have often wondered that myself.
Sure, puppies are sooo cute. People don't understand that they get older and not soooo cute anymore. I see those poor animals every day. I have even heard of a couple that kept a dog in the garage 24/7! I get sick when I see a poor animal with an upturned bowl tied up out in the summer sun.
I had an unplanned litter (adopted in the last two weeks of pregnancy), I was fortunate that only three of the pups survived. I kept all three because I didn't want to be responsible for a dog to have a shitty life tied to a tree.

I think you did the right thing, and thank you for that. I, however, wouldn't have been able to be so level-headed. Likely, the cops would still be coming, for me.

27. I thought the same thing when I got back in the house
the only thing that kept me from going to jail was her getting inside the house. I was so mad I could hardly see. I was shaking so bad I could hardly find the number to call the cops. In fact I am still mad.

28. Well, that's total BS.
You still did the right thing, and at least they have a report at the address.

You might consider contacting some of your local animal rights people. I know that not everyone wants to run to some "PETA-esque" organization when this comes up, but you just might get lucky. I know that I've responded to a number of situations just like this with my org. Just a thought...
