3. Don't think so
I just did a search for Zip File and it looked like I might be able to do a free download. Am I right about that?

7. try right-clicking on the folder you want to zip
and see if you see 'winzip' show up in the menu. If so select it - then 'add to zip file'

If you don't see that you'll need to download and install it.

2. a zip file is either a file or a combination of files
compressed using the zip utility to save space and combine files so they are easier to store, or send. you need a program to compress them, and the same program will also un-compress them.

4. You need a copy of the Winzip software
You can get it by just Googling (go to www.google.com and when you have a box to put in text to search by, but in winzip.

I'm sure you will come up with a beta version of the software and be able to download it from there

5. a zip file ...
is a COMPRESSED file ... it literaly squeezes file data into a more compact unit .... and makes it faster to move and smaller to store ...

You must have the appropriate compression/expansion applications to use them ...

6. If you have XP, you have built-in capability to read zip files
Probably also the ability to create them, but I'm not sure.

To open one, just double click on it from within Windows Explorer (in XP).
