There's a dead bluejay by my deck
I don't know if it's a victim of last night's hellacious storm, the mama cat who had kittens under the trailer (but apparently lives next door, since she and the kittens are now hanging there), or West Nile. I don't wanna touch it!!!!!!!!

1. Call animal control and ask them what to do.
They might want to examine dead birds for West Nile.

4. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking
Haven't heard of any West Nile around here yet this year, but I guess it could be starting up.

7. He seems to handle dead things much better than I do
There was a dead dog in the ditch in front of the park this morning. The kids at the bus stop were throwing ROCKS at the poor thing's upturned belly. I ran them off.

10. I don't think that's too soft
Animals, dead or alive, don't deserve that.

8. I've been finding dead birds in my yard also
I just take my garden shovel, place in a baggie and secure it closed. I don't have cats, just dogs but they are too old to bother with anything. All they are interested is doing their job, maybe stretch out and return indoors where it is cooler.

I might contact animal control to find out if they want me to save the dead birds in my yard. Interesting thought.

11. That is what some are doing, put the bag in the freezer.
They are trying to track west nile.

On the other hand, west nile is just about everywhere already
