2. I loved the chronicles of narnia
i think i could go either way in regards to the trailer, though. they really played up the music (way too overbearing for me), and the editing reminded me too much of lord of the rings. which isn't a bad thing, i loved lord of the rings, but taking that path is soooo last century. :P

i'm planning on seeing it i think. what sayest thou?

What Narnia trailer, those are one of my favorite books that I read

3. I just never got into the Narnia thing.
Looks interesting enough. Maybe I'll find it as crucifyingly boring as I found the Lord of the Rings films to be!

LOTR was a snore. I made it through the first Narnia book before I gave up on the series.

6. I grew up with it too. I'm scared.
I haven't had a great track record of books I love being turned into decent movies. (LOTR was a shining exception, but I'll still always love the book more).

two different media and yield different results.

11. Oh, I know...
I just get annoyed with the rush of new fanboys/girls who think that's how it's SUPPOSED to be.

The worst is movies that completely miss the point/spirit of the book and go off on some tangent of their own that's hardly worth the celluloid it's printed on. (The Demi Moore Scarlet Letter and Neil LaBute's godawful Possession are examples of this.) I don't expect Narnia to be that bad.

5. it looked a little cheesey
but i will have to watch it of course.
and as a previous poster said, it seems a bit LOTRish, i bet the got the green light for this movie in the wake of the first LOTR movie's success.

29. They are fuLL of Christian aLLegory
C.S. Lewis was a fervent convert to Christianity, and was very cLear about the bLatent subtext. Many fiLms now tend to remove/down-pLay (e.g., the removaL of the gods from Troy), if Narnia has this removed it rather removes the whoLe point i.m.o.

The most famous (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) contains a totaLLy unmissabLe Easter paraLLeL, with AsLan (the Lion) aLLowing himseLf to be kiLLed coming back to Life and thereby restoring/saving Narnia.

30. It is kind of a religious allegory, with the Lion, Aslan, as the Christ
figure, but it's really not rammed down one's throat.
I loved them.

26. Personally, I'm waiting to see how badly they will butcher
...the Dark Materials Trilogy, by Philip Pullman.
Best fantasy stuff I've read in a long time. Although the last book was a little bit of a snore.

31. i heard narnia was directed by a fundy.
still looks interesting, though. CS Lewis was a bit of a fundamentalist as well. I'll probably see it regardless.
