Would you go to this wedding?
Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau have be united in holy matrimony.

I just heard a snip on the news & the anchor said there were 200 guests. For some reason that just made me sick. The whole thing is sick, sick, sick, sick & the idea that 200 people showed up & supported this sick, sick, sick event just appalls me. My husband joked that it was a good thing I wasn't invited then.

Anyhow, would you go? Or would you boycott? I promise I won't flame anyone who sees it differently than me. I'm just curious.

2. Two weeks of them on Entertainment Tonight ...
like anyone gives a sh*t! Personally, I think it's sick ... but he is an adult now, although most likely a very confused adult, considering what's happened to him over the last few years. If he wants to marry her, fine. Have a nice life ... now go away because I'm sick of seeing you two on my TV! :puke:

Why do I have this horrible feeling that they're going to end up starring in a new version of "The Newlyweds" or some other whacko reality show?

3. Is there an open bar?
oh wait . . . the groom isn't of legal drinking age, is he? That would be cruel.

Uhm . . . no, I don't think I'd go. Unless it was for the sideshow element.

16. well, god knows I'm always up for a good party, too.
but (to me) attending a wedding says you support the couple & wish them the best. I've gone to weddings before that I questioned if the couple knew what they were doing-one where the night before they had flushed their rings down the toilet & still went through with it-but there's no way I could support this.

I should have clarified my post a little. I guess I assumed it was a given when I asked if anyone would attend that the invitees were all friends or relatives of the couple. I've never refused to attend a wedding but in this case I would have to make an exception. Of course then I would be dissing their children, too. :(

17. Okay, if I could take my partner, and the champagne was good, and they
had shrimp or crab, I'd be fine. All we ever do at parties is sit back, drink, eat, and make fun of people anyway, so this would be a goldmine of material.

As to respecting the significance of the wedding, all I can say is- Brittney Spears can marry anyone she meets just for the hell of it. I've lived monogamously with the man I love since 1989, and we're not allowed to marry. I don't have much respect for the sanctity of "weddings" anymore.

Sadly, I'd probably go to their silly little party just to indulge myself and make fun of them.

18. Fair enough.
I guess I just fine the whole thing sick. Did I mention that? :)

Yeah, Brittney pretty much put a nail in the coffin in the whole 'sanctity of weddings' thing.

I am very sorry that you & your partner can't marry. I don't know if you want to or not, but you should have the option. Same as hetero couples can decide to live together or marry. I've heard so many so-called 'reasonable people' say the civil unions should be okay, but not marriage. Sounds like the 'separate but equal' crap palmed off on African-Americans.

20. To be honest, I really doubt we would marry, even if it was legal
We've discussed it and neither of us really considers it important. He was married to a lovely woman for 18 years before we met and I was 35 and a confirmed bachelor. I agree that we should have the option of marriage, but-at this point- being married would not change my life materially. Tax wise, we're actually better off.

And I really do agree with you that the Letourneau wedding is a humiliating farce-a bad joke that leaves me a little nauseas. Still, they're both adults now(even though she did molest him) so its for them to decide.

8. Here's my question--if the teacher had been male
and the student female-would Entertainment Tonight have been buying the "exclusive rights" to their wedding? This whole story has made me sick from day one and it just keeps getting worse.

What's a Vili anyway?

I know there's a Mary Kay who pimps processed mink testicles and wax (aka "make-up"), is that the same one?
