I love the way the media uses a controversial commercial
that's supposed to be "too hot for TV" as an excuse to...

REPEAT THE COMMERCIAL OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I had never seen the Paris Hilton commercial before now. Watching about an hour of MSNBC, I have now seen it about 10 times.

Oh, this is rich.

1. Much cheaper for the company to make a controversial commercial
and let the MSM do this than it would be to buy the ad time. Perhaps our DNC leadership should look at the same thing. Hours of airtime vs seconds.

2. Crazy, eh?
I'm sure advertising companies take this into account when developing commercials. The racier it is, the more free exposure it will likely get.

3. I love that ad
And what's weird is, Paris Hilton usually does NOTHING for me. But I guess if they had shot Rosie O'Donnell the same way--with the latex bathing suit and the car and the suds, etc.--it might still be pretty hot.

4. Free nationwide exposure
Even if they RWers succeed in getting the commercial removed from the air, the fast food joint still wins. Up until a couple of days ago, I never heard of this restaurant - we don't have them here - but if they decide to expand the franchise and go national, they now have name recognition.

6. I have to admit
I am a straight woman
I think Paris Hilton is awful

And I still think that commercial is HOT.

7. It is hot, yes.
Is it truly newsworthy? No.

"Whole Country Simultaneously Aroused" might be a helluva headline, though.
