Please take a long, hard look at Viagra.
Okay, I couldn't resist that, but seriously I just heard on the news that it can cause blindness.

And no, never tried it, never needed it.

3. For me, seriously, a man's decision about Viagra is a private,
live-and-let-live kind of thing. I don't judge people who do that, or don't do it, and can't really fathom some of the reasons people are so hostile to Viagra users. But, one thing that has really surprised me about DU people are the number of men posting here who are quite comfortable saying they've never felt the need to use it and the information about the side-effects has kept them disinterested in experimenting. I mean, sure, I'm on the younger side of things, and maybe that's why I haven't talked to that many men who have taken Viagra, but in my neck of the woods it's still very popular, despite increasingly negative info available about the potentially-negative impact it can have on health. So, if any of you non-Viagra fans here care, good for you, for caring about yourselves enough not to use a drug you aren't comfortable with. I wish more people would do that with regard to all of their Rx meds.

6. All the great recreational drugs have a side effect or two.
I'd rather not be sitting in the nursing home at age 93, thinking to myself, "Well, I didn't take many chances or have much fun, but here I am, 93 years old, nurse, can I have some more gruel, please?"

I just haven't found any particular need.

16. Is that kind of hostility really necessary?
I'm expressing an opinion. If you don't like it, you can argue the point without the juvenile name-calling.

Sorry, Bob, but you've firmly established yourself as a bitter, mean-spirited loser who can't get it up.

7. The enzyme PDE 6 in the eyes, PDE 5 testes
Viagra is effective on erectile dysfunction because it inhibits phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE-5), an enzyme that enhances the effects of nitric oxide, which is released during sexual stimulation to relax the smooth muscle of the penis and facilitate blood inflow. However, the drug also has a milder inhibiting effect on PDE-6, an enzyme actively present in retinal photoreceptors. This causes an increase in the concentration of cyclicGMP, resulting in a depolarization of the rod cell – and increased light sensitivity and the infamous "blue vision."

10. I believe the loss of vision is due to optic neuritis
associated with men who are taken other meds for heart disease of hypertension, I think. ON = swelling of the optic nerve

Optic neuritis usually affects only one eye. One guy who was taking Viagra got it in both eyes and went totally blind

25. you didn't have to admit...
you never needed it  reminded me of the Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with it" episode.

but if you want a head's up  read the usage guidelines of such compounds it is some scary stuff. you may be vying for 'blindness' if a handful of other, equally dire side effects are visited upon you as per the fine print directions right in the box
