I'm going to this river right now, in fact if you look closely you can just make out my yellow boat in the far back of the pack! This is the Vermillion in Hastings Minnesota.

A shot of Donut Hole (it's only about half this size right now)

And maybe later this weekend I'll be here--a more muscular river, but the one I learned to paddle on. Section III of the Wolf in NE Wisconsin:

Nobody's ever commented on any of my paddlin' posts but there is always a first time. Plus it's like part of the deal--once you start Whitewatering you're sort of expected to recruit others.

The Right-wing might call the the "Paddler Agenda!" ;)

cold? :scared: The scenery is great, too! Do I get a cookie for answering? :9

3. Damn straight you get a cookie!
:D

It is a little chilly, but I wear a drytop--and lots of exercise keeps you warm.

However I screwed up and had to swim a few nights ago in a pouring rain, and, lets say the cold water gave me a nearly instant male to female gender reassignment!

Sufing is soooooo fun though (that's what's going on in the bottom two pics.

ll you have to do is come to MN and claim that cookie! :D

2. Whitewater scares me
Edited on Fri May-27-05 04:22 PM by seemunkee
Bad experiences the first few times I went.
I'll climb almost anything but in a boat I'll stick to lakes and slow moving rivers and open ocean

4. As long as you have fun,
For me it's the opposite, at least for the climbing. If I screw up in a boat, i can always try to swim, if I screw up on the rock I know I'll NEVER fly! ;)

7. sorry I didn't check in time,
but hell yeah!

For the record, that water was still COLD! What a great time though, I managed a couple of nice rides on the stuff you see in the top two pictures. I love whitewater, sometimes I think I like it more than people who (unlike me) are actually good at it!

To borrow a line from parents from time immemorial; I am gonna sleep tonight.

Man, I needed that!
