Is anyone having problems with Google Page Rank?
All the sites I visit today have an "no rank information" rank? Is it just me?

2. I see it up there on the toolbar
it says no page rank information available. Honestly, I got no idea what it means anyway though.

3. It turns out that page-rank is down today.
I don't know why. Some are saying that Google is updating the page-rank system right now.

4. Does it indicate how many people are
viewing a site? That's what I thought it was but I was never sure. I guess a Saturday on a three day weekend is a good time to do updates.

5. Googles page-rank is a tool to see how relevant your site is.
Site admins check traffic with their own software, independent of Google.

A high page-rank means that Google will direct more traffic to you because your site is relevant. People spend a lot of time studying the nuances of the Google bot and how to make their site "G-friendly." If Google is changing the ranking system, it could be a big deal to many people.

Pagerank goes from 0 - 10. Zero means you are a spam site or a link-farm. (You can also be "n/a" which means that your site hasn't been indexed yet.)

The page-rank slides up and down depending on when Google updates its directory. To give some context:

Google.com ranks a "10"
Whitehouse.gov ranks a "9"
DU ranks a "8"
Whiterosesociety.com ranks a "7"
Zmag.org tanks a "6"
Brainshrub.com ranks a "5"

Some tips to get a good pagerank, in no particular order:

1) A well-designed site.
2) Use a CMS instead of HTML frames. (Drupal works best.)
3) A site-map.
4) A Robot .txt file.
5) Get lots of people link to your site.
6) Update your site with fresh content regularly.
