I could use some good thoughts today...
My best friend called early this morning to tell me her 16 year old little sister flipped her car over last night and had to be Care Flighted to a hospital in Dallas. She had surgery this morning to put a metal rod in one of her legs. She broke both legs, lots of bumps and bruises, and a head injury that has people a little worried because she's still kinda loopy and not making much sense.

I've known this girl since she was a baby. I can't count the number of times she came over with my best friend to spend xmas eve with my family. She's just gotta be ok.

Please, send out prayers, good thoughts, positive energy, whatever. It will be greatly appreciated.

4. I hope she recovers nicely.
14 yrs ago, I was lucky to walk away from a similar feat with little more than a stiff neck. Lots of sympathy and good thoughts.

5. Her daddy said she was lucky...
to come out alive. Apparently the driver's side of her car is gone. Just completely gone.

16. I assume she was belted in.
Very hard to survive a rollover without a seat belt.

6. Sending some her way
and don't imagine the worst in regards to her head injury. Loopiness is quite common so soon after such cranial trauma.

Just keep visualizing her as healthy and happy as you've ever seen her.

Hoping she heals up just fine.

9. If it's any consolation,
I had a friend in high school who had his femur replaced with a metal rod- he recovered within 6 months, and he a juvenille diabetes, even. As for the loopy thing, she may have a concussion.

I definitely wish her a fast recovery!

It's been a long couple of weeks and this was not what I needed on top of everything else.

But it will be alright. It doesn't have any other choice but to be. :)

24. Nope...she's at Parkland.
And her family lives up in that area so she's good for a place to stay if need be. But thank you so much for the offer. You are good people.

31. An update:
The best friend just called with more details. Apparently the kid didn't break her right ankle...just really hurt it. The left thigh bone, however, was shattered...lots of metal in there now holding things together.

The good news is the swelling in her head has gone down considerably. She's conscious and a bit more coherent...though still a little loopy.

They're going to have her up and walking a bit either later tonight or tomorrow morning...apparently that's important to keep her from getting blood clots. If the pressure in her head keeps going down and she doesn't have any clots or infection set in...then after a day or two up walking they'll let her go home.

Thanks again to everyone for the good thoughts. :grouphug:
